Yep. I called tha I the game thread. When they said Mayfield was playing the 2nd half, I noticed him fist bumping EVERYONE on the sideline with his left hand. He was making such deliberate effort to look natural that he called attention to his unnatural it was. He over
Sold it.

When he fumbled, Bud didn’t do that much to cause the ball to come out. Mayfield just couldn’t grip it. Finally, that final interception b y a Hayden was a HUGE misfire by Mayfield.

I do believe his hand wasn’t the same after that.

Thanks for pointing out things that change games that go unnoticed. So often a big run happens and the back gets credit (and it is due) but people miss the pulling guard or the WR who sealed the edge to open the running lane in the first place. My favorite part of Ward's game was his absolute fearless blocking. Pressures leads to INT's. Small injuries lead to fumbles. Some fans focus only on stats and flash, but make no notice of the other 10 guys on the unit that made the stat/flash possible in the first place. Makes me appreciate Troy P. saying its a 'team' game all the more.

Good article and thanks!

GReAT observation Cope and huge thanks for this write up, love these as one of my favorite reads !!!

I saw that play in my head in slow motion and mentioned to my friends that he got hurt on the hand. Then the TV showed it and they were like WhoALy ****. You're right about the rest of the game play and that hurt thumb.

Again, thanks Cope
