A guy on the fan morning show was looking at the draft chart, and what it would cost the Steelers to move up 10 spots.
Our 1st, both 3rds, and our 4th.

Would you make that trade to move up?

Depends on who is there. If you can get your guy without moving up then don't do it. But if you feel a guy (like Troy) who is a generational player is not going to drop then pull the trigger.

They were talking about White and Bush, the two top ILB's. White will go top 10, it looking more and more like Bush will definitely be gone before #20, alot of people have him going to Cincy at 11.

Unfortunately, if you think Cin is going to take Bush, you would have to move to #10 to take him and that is just too much. Moving to 15th is more realistic, I think. If he is still there, at that point, I try for the trade.

Obviously, you'd need to analyze the needs of the teams at 16-19 to convince yourself they would take an ILB.

I agree, I saw one mock that had Cincy take Ed Oliver and then Bush fell to 17 I believe the Giants.

I've seen a lot of mock drafts that have all the CB's still on the board when we pick. I don't think it'll happen, I wonder when the last time the first CB taken in the draft was after pick 20?

I'm not trading up for Bush until 15 or so. He is not a slam-dunk stud. I am thinking the bengals take him with their 1st.
For White, I would trade up to around 10 if he was available...but he won't be.

No way am I giving up two thirds.Too many needs. Maybe if Ben was retiring and there was a QB there. Otherwise no way.

For me the only other scenario would be for a premier pass rusher. If say Bosa fell (he won't) to 10 then yes.

On some prognosticators interviews (radio) if Murray isn’t taken by AZ, CIN will. That would be an interesting development.

I wouldn't mind one of the Clemson D-Linemen or the D-Linemen DreMont Jones from Ohio St at 20.

I would say no, because this team is NOT one player away from a SB. We have needs at LB and DB, as well as a need for a legit #2 WR. The Steelers need every draft pick and they need depth as well.

Too soon to make that big of a commitment. The draft never plays out the way most of these mocks illustrate. Whatever happens with that first pick is going to alter quite a bit of what transpires afterward. If ARIZ goes QB it will be interesting to see what happens with Rosen and possible trades that could really adjust the picks being taken by teams like CIN and the GIANTS. I would rather they move up only slightly by 4 spots or so to take either BUSH or HOCKENSEN if they were available. WHITE will go too early to make it realistic to give up that much value to move up 10 spots. If they had gotten more for AB it might have left us in a better position to move around. If WHITE, BUSH and HOCKENSEN are gone by 14 spot I could even see them trading down and acquiring another pick in the 2nd round. There are a lot of decent TE, WR, 2nd level LBs that could be good value.

IMHO---there will be no DB/Wr or ILB that is a better player than the Clemson D-Linemen (any of them) or DL Jones from OSU at 20.

Not only going by the BPA model with this...but we need D-Linemen also!

I like the DT from Clemson, but we play so much sub package with only 2 Dlinemen, it's be a waste, he'd rarely be used. If Tomlin would pull his head out of his *** and run 3 Dlinemen 3LB's 5DB's it would be a nice rotation, hell with our lack of LB's period, drafting him and using 4 Dlinemen(Cam, Hargrave, Rookie, Tuitt) with 2 LB's and 5 DB's would be even better. That will never make sense to me. We have the most talent along the Dline when it comes to our defensive groups(DL, LB's, DB's) yet we play the majority of the snaps on defense with the least amount of DL, while keeping our weakest group(LB's) all on the field.

Depends on how much they like Devin White over Devin Bush (or player x over player y). If the preference is slight, I’m holding on to the picks and hoping Bush is there.

5th year options cost more at #10 then they do at #11. So unless we're drafting a monster hard pass at going that high.

in doing this...

16. Carolina - could use/need defense or WR. They signed Bruce Irvin, so that may accommodate their defensive need. I can see them taking DK Metcalf or AJ Brown or even a TE such as Hockensen. I doubt they'd take an ILB since Kuechly is still bringing it. They could go for a guy like Brian Burns, or even an OT. Doubtful they take an ILB.

17. NY Giants - holy ****. where to start? They could take a WR (Metcalf, either Brown) or a QB. Their WR corps is not going to wow anyone, so it's more likely they take a WR here than any other position. Though I'd expect them to take a serious look at Drew Lock.

18. Minnesota - Offense is set. No glaring need on offense, so it's likely they target Clelin Ferrell here to upgrade their pass rush.

19. Tennessee - They need a QB, but won't take one here. They glaring need is DE or OLB. So if Ferrell or Burns are on the board, they'll likely take one here.

Your normal football stupidity is not glaring here. So, ASSuming the above is legit, that leaves you covered for 16-19 and not needing to trade up. Unless, of course, you get word that someone wants to trade ahead of you.

Maybe, if he had a guy like the Clemson guy, that change gets made.

Possible. I'd have a hard time passing on Greedy Williams though if he were there. We need to find a stud CB as well, and it's very rare to possibly have a shot at the top CB when you're sitting at #20.

Nope... not at all... thats a lot to invest in a non sure thing... id rather have 4 hig to mid round shots than one top ten unless we are talking a franchise QB
