Haley on going deep on 3rd and short

I don't mind taking a shot or two like that per game. Just so long as it doesn't become too predictable either way.

Exactly. Whatever works. I'm sure most of the time Ben has a other receiver on a shorter route that he can go to if necessary. It's okay to do what the defense is not expecting but as we remember from The Bruce's days, "Normally we'd run play A so we'll run play B but they'll be expecting us to fool them with B so we'll do a double switch and run play A." The defense would then gear up for A, it would fail, and we'd send out the punt team.

If the defense looks beatable, do it but if you see Heath or Williams 4 yards beyond the 1st down marker, I'd be content with continuing the drive. That pisses me off when the deep ball doesn't work and they have to punt.

I woul;d have like to continue a drive clock running then get at least a field goal. On the interception at the two or three yard line I could live with, long field eating clock.

While I'm not a big fan of throwing it down field on 3rd and shorts, his explanation makes sense.
When a QB like Ben can get a predictable defense with one-on-ones on the outside with our WRs, I guess you have to take some shots.
I'd just prefer some balance.. I think there are some times when you need to just extend the drive by picking up the 2-3 yards.

Just throw it past the 1st down marker. There are plenty of easier ways to do that. As for going deep, 1st or 2nd down is a better option.
