Gurley 4 year 60 million 45 guaranteed

Here's the issue-

The argument was always, "He wants SOOO much more than the next highest paid RB, he should be just happy with what theyre offering". The problem was, there were no 'elite' RB's to compare that against.

Now that we have some elite talent at the position (Bell, Johnson, Gurley, Zeke), you had to know that the market will reset. And quite honestly, they deserve it considering their production.
I've always said if there were no salary cap, then pay the man.

Hell, if NICK FOLES can lead your team to a ring, why would you ever pay a QB more than $20mn???
Trent Dilfer.

Trent Dilfer.

Trent Dilfer earned a whopping $1mn when he won the SB with the Rat's. Granted that was back in 2000.

But Foles earned something maybe like $5mn last year.

I just dont know how the QB and WR markets have gotten out of whack lately, while every other positions $$ have mostly stagnated.

Passing league...

But seriously, teams feel the need to overpay quarterbacks when they think they have a decent one. The fact that the top five paid quarterbacks doesn't include Roethlisberger, Brady, and Rogers is ridiculous.

I guess Bell wasn't crazy with his demands? Steelers are just way out of touch this proves it. Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley getting paid more than Brown and Bell:der:

They offered Bell 5Y $75mil. Get off the crack pipe.

First off- they only offered $70/5yr

Second- they were only going to guarantee like $15mln of that. So its definitely not apples to apples

They just paid nearly $27 million in guarantees (last year and this year) and virtually every major star on the Steelers gets paid their entire contract. Last year they offered something like $42 million over 3 years so this new offer was probably similar. Doesn't the guy believe in himself to play at a high level for 4-5 more years?

Hines Ward, one of the most beloved Steelers, was cut with two years left on his contract.

Dont get it confused- the Steelers are just as cut throat as most teams when it comes to laying down the axe.

When you are done you are done. But at least they aren't shipping your *** off too early. They usually watch them decline, then cut them 1 or 2 years later.

Oh, please! The In-touch Rams we’re sitting at home watching the also way out of touch Eagles and Patriots play the Super Bowl with a bunch of no-name running backs.

Yep, they are in belief recent history has shown a franchise QB is worth investing because that is the biggest part of winning a championship. That is why when one QB has a great year, wins an MVP or wins a championship a new, ridiculous contract is handed out.

Not to piss a few of yinz off, but you shouldn't let a few posts here and there rile you up to the point you don't talk Steeler football. Simply go to a different thread if one annoys you. Or take the day off, come back the next day refreshed. Always going to be a point of view you disagree with.

I dunno tougher skin?

Amen, brother

Point was only that Trent Dilfer has a SB ring, proving that you don't have to be a great QB (as long as you have a lights-out defense).

The Rams also have a QB on a rookie contract, not a HOF franchise QB on a massive one..

Ward was a 36-year old receiver who just completed his 14th season. If you brought up Woodley or Allen, I could have seen where you were coming from, but these situations aren't even in the same ballpark.

Bell also has a history of drug trouble and suspension concern. I bet that played heavily into the Steelers thinking when they were talking guaranteed money.

Rams are crazy if this stops them from signing Donald.
