I was doing some research and went down a rabbit hole. It ended with this great article about Yancey Thigpen.

He is one of my all time favorite receivers. He was tough, fast, had perfect hands, and ran crisp routes. Everything you want in a reliable receiver. It is no coincidence that he year after Yancey signed a huge contract with the Oilers, the Steelers drafted his clone in the 3rd round of the next year's draft - Hines Ward.

Enjoy the read. He has some fun stories and insight into Cowher's locker room.

good read

didn't see it at first !~

I wonder what medical condition he has......

Got to hang with Yancey at the Steelers-Cowboys game 4 years ago in the stadium club. My buddy Chip golfs with him when Yancey visits SoCal. He's a good dude.

Yeah, Yancey was a very productive WR with the Steelers. Moved on as a FA to Tennessee didn't he? Sounds like he is doing well financially but might have a little CTE going on.

Ya, bummer ending to the article. I hope he gets the help he needs. As a side note, how ******* nice is it to see somebody who wisely saved and invested their money and is now set? Good ******* Job!

I remember Yancy as extremely efficient and reliable. I don't necessarily remember him as a super-star, but I do know I was crazy pissed when he dropped that gimme TD against the Packers. (C'mon, who else remembers that?) So he must have been extremely reliable in my mind because I was blown away that he dropped that ball.

They rolled with Johnson and that was a huge mistake. Of course Yancy leaving watched his career die. Both were better together than apart.

Don't forget the huge promise and mediocre payoff of Mighty Eric Green
