Gerry Dulac is reporting Pickett to the Eagles

Sorry @Ron Burgundy for stepping on your turf ... But ...

So does this say Wilson will be here more than one year? Otherwise why let Rudolph go then?
I guess somewhere along the way they felt he wasn't the answer. Little surprised they just didn't tell him to deal with it and compete.

Considering that Diontae and Pickens openly campaigned for Rudolph and Cam, Minkah and TJ all called Wilson to recruit him on his way to Pittsburgh, it's very possible that KP8 lost standing in the locker room and within the org as a whole. In that case, they might have felt like they didn't lose anything by NOT having him around to compete.

The fact they signed Wilson for only one year implies they are not really sold on him either, though seem to think he is their best option for 2024.

It probably says more what they think about Kenny than anything.

Honestly, I would have just rather kept Rudolph.

So much for all the "Kenny lovers" saying how he was still the future of the Steelers. So much for Tomlin handling Kenny with kid gloves when they demoted him to QB 2 and Kenny threw a fit. This marks the Steelers entering the modern NFL and dealing with the obvious sh-- needing dealt with, hallelujah.

Steelers get pick No. 98 and two 2025 7th-round picks. Eagles get Pickett and No. 120.

Steelers moving up about 22 slots from mid 4th to end of 3rd. Steelers had back to back picks in the 4th.

Great move. Get rid of the temptation to save face on the Kenny draft pick. We already saw on this board people irrationally calling for Kenny over Russel Wilson to start.

Steelers now must get another QB. Maybe they draft one. Maybe they sign a cheap vet like Garapolo who would fit in the system. Maybe they trade for a QB that a team gave up on.

I think Tannehill's history with Arthur Smith makes him much more likely.
Ahhh, but this new Steelers F.O. ... You can't look at "likely" with them. Acquiring Queen and Wilson. Trading Diontae and Pickett. Very few, if any, of us would have thought those things "likely" for the Steelers.
I'm intrigued as to what their next moves will be.

Stupid trade. We basically just gave them Pickett and it leaves us with only a 35 year old QB on our roster.

According to ESPN, which initially reported the trade, the Steelers will get the No. 98 overall pick in the 2024 draft and two seventh-round picks in 2025. In addition to Pickett, the Eagles will get the No. 120 overall pick in this year's draft.

Tannehill just makes too much sense, though, given we're talking strictly back up QB at this point with there now being no doubt Wilson will be the starter.

Trading Kenny all but ensures they'll be drafting a QB with one of their first few picks.
