Taking my family (Wife, 16 & 19 year old boys) to our first Steelers game next weekend. Driving up from Knoxville, TN. I need recommendations on Sports Bars, breakfast diners, etc. I've been researching and Pamala's Diner and DeLuca's are highly rated and fit what we are looking for pre-game. Am, I on right track here? Do we need to arrive really early? 8am 9am?

Also plan on a place called Primanti's and Jerome Bettis Grill. Any recommendations or must visit places appreciated. We'll arrive Friday night and spend all day saturday and sunday.

I’d pass on Primanti’s and Bettis’ place. Most people don’t care for Primanti’s - I only like the corned or pastrami. Bettis is nothing special and food is not very good. Hit one of the other restaurants in and around Market Square and downtown.

Armstrongs, either Caste Village or Coraopolis

Agreed, Primanti's and Bettis is out. We are staying at Embassy Suits by hilton which is a 5 min walk from market square and 25 min walk to strip district. Pamala's Diner or DeLuca's Diner still seem to be good choices. 45 min walk to stadium though.

Yes, Pamela’s and DeLucas are a good but in the opposite direction of the stadium, take an Uber if that’s the plan. I’m sure you could also find good breakfast or brunch places in Market Square or downtown.

gotta do primantis. some people love it, some hate it. bottom line is you have to go just to say you did.
we always do it before the game.(breakfast if you will) get enough food in you that you dont need to eat the crap at the stadium.
its a one time thing, get there as early as you can. time will go fast just eating and walking around the stadium, tailgates, etc.
there are plenty of places to grab a beer or food before the game right outside the stadium. southern tier brewery is nice if you like micro brews
only go into grille 36 to take a leak

Plan to go to Peppi's on an off day and have a Roethlisburger.

I liked it. Alot.

Next up the Wheeler,

First time I went to a game in Pittsburgh,we walked across the Roberto Clemente bridge with the thousands of others to the game. Go early, lots to do and see. It’s not far,I loved walking around Heinz Field, inside and out. Tons of food and eating establishments.
