Well it feels good to be 3-1 after this win vs the Chiefs. This is what a good team should do at home to an average football team. Nice to see Butler turn up the heat on the defensive side of the football and come after Alex Smith. I wanna give a shout out to two guys who started and did great tonight and that's BJ Finney for Ramon Foster and Jordan Dangerfield who certainly earned my respect tonight filling in for Robert Golden. Also good to see LeVeon Bell back onto the team. Lets enjoy this one for the next 24 hours and then bring on the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS!!!

Game Balls:
BJ Finney - This kid started and played great on the O-line tonight protecting Ben and opening some nice holes in the running game vs a great Chiefs Defense
Ben Roethlisberger - 5 TD's 300yds passing. This is the Big Ben that we know and love. Seeing that he lost two people very close to him....it's understandable that he didn't play well last week. Mind was elsewhere. Welcome back Ben!
LeVeon Bell - 178 yds all purpose plus 144 rushing. Welcome back #26
Vince Williams - He played like a man possessed tonight 15 tackles.....WOW!
Jordan Dangerfield - Great game by Dangerfield and good tackling
Cameron Heyward - Three sacks tonight he was getting good pressure all night
Keith Butler - Way to turn up the heat on the Defensive side of the ball

Game Goats:
Artie Burns - It might seem like I'm picking on the kid but I hope he learned alot tonight and doesn't make the same mental mistakes in the weeks ahead. Get better Artie!

FU's:
FU to Bruce Arians....the more I watch Noodle Knee Palmer get mauled and crushed in Arizona with Arians brilliant 5 & 7 step drops because Arians "LIKES YARDS IN BUNCHES" just pisses me off to no end. When he was our OC we watched week in and week out Ben get pummeled, sacked and knocked down too damn much early in his career. I'm glad we've got Todd Haley as our OC! I honestly think Arians might have cost Ben a year or two of playing time with his game planning!

Arians is gone. Just let it go. Also I thought Burns wasn't that bad for playing in his 4th game of his career.

If my eyes were not deceiving me, Jesse " little Heath" James caught that touchdown pass one handed ! He also threw more than a couple good blocks and is turning into a pretty good player. Good Job Jesse.

I don't know that I saw a big falloff with Williams in there and that Burns kid is raw but promising. He had a couple plays just short of perfect ......and a few not so close to perfect.

Bell is a special talent, nice to have a good backup but there's no reason to debate the work load.

Hargraves is close but still needs more experience, and it looks like he is getting it.

They can close that " safe zone " in the middle of the defense anytime now as far as I'm concerned.

Great Game and.....

RIP Arnie

Good night y'all

oh, he's gone, but the fact that he's trying to kill his current qb rings true to the OP's point. That dude just does not ******* get it. I think if we have a different OC, we spank the living **** out of the Packers after they lose their cb, but what does Brucey say after the ******* game? "We don't alter our game plan based on their personnel" are you ******* shittng me?

Yes, he's gone, but the point is quite valid.

Yep. Valid....but he has been gone almost what 5 years. The team moved on from him. It is about time for the fans to also. Or just go ahead and play the "what ifs" game. I'm sure another 100 threads on the subject will make it all better for everyone.

Game ball: the fans shouting "Heath" when Jesse made a catch.

Game goat: none

FU: Chris Collinsworth. Just because.

Burns had an excellent play on the ball when he lost a step down the sideline. He used his speed to recover and timed the breakup by playing the receiver's hand placement. He never turned his head and played the ball perfectly. This is something you usually only see from Vets.

I'm way happier with Burns being around the play, than I was last year watching Blake fall down on a double move and giving a wide open completion away on the edge.

Agreed. Burns or "Barns," as collinsworth called him, did have some downs but the plays he did make were pretty damn good. He also had a really nice play on that catch that Conley had but just couldn't squeeze the ball out of his hands. Burns did give up some completions and had a couple penalties, but he was always around his man. Always. And that play along the sideline was a terrific pass break up. After watching him progress so far this season, I gotta say that I'm excited about the potential with this kid.

I also don't have many complaints about Artie. I wasn't watching him every play, but when I did, he looked much better than a rookie considered to be "raw" playing just his second or third game or whatever. I'm actually very pleased with him and think he'll be a very good, possibly great, one for us one day

It was nice to see Gilbert get some run. I thought Artie played well. Around the ball and tackled better. I don't know how they will work it but Dangerfield needs to be part of the rotation from here on out. He has earned it IMO. And not at the expense of Davis but let them rotate

Hard to find any negatives. Burns gave up a couple catches, but 2 of them he was right there and were perfect balls. The oline played well especially Finney. Ben seemed to get his accuracy back. Only negative i can think of is they did not seem to get bell and dwill on the field at the same time. Oh and tomlin blew a challenge that gave KC a first down.

Agreed, not sure what Chico is seeing calling this kid the game goat (no offense Chico, we all see the game differently). While he had a few mistakes, he flashed several times and was part of a pretty decent secondary effort last night.

Down 36-, Tyreek Hill ran a go-route down the sideline, got behind Burns, who then caught up and made a spectacular pass defense getting his hand inside and knocking the ball loose.

Also down 36-0, the Chiefs were at 3rd and Goal at the Steelers 3 and Burns broke up the pass forcing 4th down (before Travis dropped the ball on 4th down in the end zone).

Jerry Dulac had this to say about the secondary last night, and Burns:

Secondary: B

The unit was playing without two of its safeties, Robert Golden and rookie Sean Davis, forcing rookie Artie Burns and newcomer Justin Gilbert into more playing time in the nickel defense. But they managed to end their streak of allowing 300-yard passers by holding Alex Smith to 287 yards on 50 attempts, a meager 5.74 yards per attempt. And they didn’t allow a pass play longer than 20 yards.

Artie is learning on the job. He is going to get a pass this year. My only knock on the two rookies in the secondary is that they gotta ******* tackle.

Was good to see Dangerfield play a really good game back there. Also was nice to see Gilbert get out there.

Burns was very close to getting a pick six when KC was at our 5 or so, he broke on the ball, knocked it down but couldn't get his second hand on it. He goes for a 100 and a td there, unless that #10 ****** from KC was near him.

If my eyes were not deceiving me, Jesse " little Heath" James caught that touchdown pass one handed !

He did, because the defender was grabbing his other arm - just like the defender grabbed Brown early on his 40-yard TD catch.

Interference on Steelers receivers? Naaaaaah. They don't need no stinking flag.

Hell yeah. I'm not saying it's intentional or a conspiracy or anything, but it boggles the mind how often our receivers are interfered with, our pass rushers are held, and our QB is hit late - mostly without any flags. These are penalties that are OVER-enforced across the league, week in and week out. And yet we can't get these calls to save our lives.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it just might be a duck.

Unless everyone was wearing gold jumpsuits, I think our fans should get an FU.

Back when Haley was hired me and one other poster iirc were the only ones excited about the hire. I had to constantly defend Haley from the so called "knowledgeable fanbase" on this board who wanted him fired at the first sign of adversity.

Before the Arians firing i was on this board calling for an OC that was a disciplinarian to be brought in. Lo and behold the Rooneys listened to my sage advice and one ,no nonsense ,get the job done Todd Haley was brought in.

The most stunning thing in the litany of Arians stupidity to me was when he said something like " i don't want to try and change Ben because we had a kid like that at Temple that we ruined as a qb"

So you would rather have your qb physically ruined because of your idiotic offfensive philosophy than have his psyche ruined......brilliant, just f ing brilliant.

That idea tells you immediately that this person has limited experience and limited understanding when it comes to qb's and human beings in general.

Step in Haley, and Ben is reading defenses, getting rid of the ball quickly and making good decisions(for the most part). Haley didn't ruin anybody, he just made him realize his potential.

Speaking of potential :Arians went from wr coach to OC to head coach. Wr coach is about all hes capable of fulfilling with some competence.

Talk about going far beyond your potential and benefitting from affirmitive acti.....errrrrr.....excuse me; the NFL " good ol boy network" and you'll be talking about one Bruce Arians.

Who are you again??

Not sure why Burns gets a "goat" award. He did not have a bad game. If anything, I give the "goat" to more injuries. This team is getting decimated.

I was impressed with Burns. We knew he has the physical and athletic tools, which he displayed, but I really did not expect him to show so much confidence and awareness this soon.

It was one game, but he does not seem to be anywhere near as raw as was anticipated.

Interesting, I wasn't sure how I felt about all those empty seats. On one hand, I thought, "Dear God I wouldn't want to sit there in that downpour either." On the other, I thought it made us look kind of weak. IDK

I am pleased with his development; I think he has already grown from his initial raw state and is coming along, most likely because he is putting the work in. And he did flash some physical skills last night.
