Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's...............@ Cardinals......

The Tomlin fake punt call and time management throwing the ball at the end was not good and could have cost us the game.

Big props to Johnson for bouncing back from some mistakes last week.

I know this was only the Cardinals, but this game had Tomlin special written all over it, yet we pulled out the win.

As per Mike Tomlin Post Game:
Vance McDonald - Concussion being evaluated
Jaylen Samuels - Groin Injury

Just put Vance McDonald on season-ending IR and get someone who can stay healthy - and why is it we keep losing players at RB? At this point, a groin injury is probably season-ending.

Can only imagine if a smart mind like Tony Romo was our OC

Watching the Rams tonight, it reminds me that it'd be nice to see some bootlegs/misdirection plays etc.

FU to the ref for the no call call on head hunting

The shot on JSam was brutal - should have been flagged for sure. That was the same guy that got the first one I think.

Steratore did say that JaySam’s hit should have been flagged and while the fake punt was atrocious, Berry got plastered right in the grill with a helmet. If correctly called, 1st 10 mid field.

How can the black/white calls which should be obvious are frequently being missed now?

Shouldn’t have ever been an option. If you asked the Cards “What do you want the Steelers to do here?” The answer would have been “Attempt a pass”. Short of a turnover, Tomlin essentially gave them their best case scenario on that play. A -15 yard run would have been a better outcome for the Steelers than an incomplete pass. When that’s the case, you sure as hell don’t throw the ball.

My suspicion is it’s a standard play. QB is supposed to make the read. Just gotta be aware of the situation. I am sure they talk and practice situational football all the time, but Duck’s got a lot to think about.

This is the second week in a row he made a poor decision to close the game. I’m sure they will talk about this during film study.

Yes, but the point is that all they needed to do there was essentially fall on the ball 3 times and kick the fg. Three dive plays or 3 kneels is all they needed. Don't even have pass plays on the brain there at all. Same goes for the fake punt. Ok, great, you worked on it in practice. But the score, time in the game, and spot on the field means that it shouldn't ever be an option for a player to have to call ot off. You make that **** known on the sideline before they get out there.

Good road win, I'll take it. But Murray ******* up the end of that game essentially saved the Steeler coaches.

Well... now a Tomlin told the rest of the league how we line up for fake punts and ruined that for the rest of the season.

That said, with that horrible execution, thank goodness was we won’t be doing that any time soon.

Thinking about it, Tomlin will probably try it again on Sunday.

We won - yeah it wasn't perfect but we won.

I hate that Jordan Hicks was allowed to stay in the game after TWO head shots. Atrocious...

Think on this - who is to blame, truly, if a bad call is called---the decision to 'not call the bad play' is reversed, but the play gets executed by the guy who didn't hear it get called off? I give props to everyone who aborted the play and the GOAT has to be given to Jordan Berry for continuing the play. I also give FU's to all the refs for not seeing Berry get cracked the helmet on the tackle.

Berm that should never ever ever ever be a call on the Steelers side of the field. Having it in the roll a dex is a fail in its own right. And yes Berry shares blame. But it is shared because simply it is a stupid idea to begin with. Regardless it was a good game and a good win. On the head shots it seems the team is getting a good amount of them this year they need to stay consistent in calling them. But those refs never are consistent with anything.

but but but. . . Bud hit Baker too hard last week. I agree, no consistency.

Tomlin needs to be better in certain situations.

I'll take the win and let's get ready for Buffalo. A lot of the line, prime time, home crowd. Gonna be rockin'!

One more thing. I was going to cut Edmunds a break as he made some nice plays in run support, but he is a weak link and liability in pass coverage. Better and more experienced QBs will exploit him.

I have to say this run we're on is about the most fortunate and luckiest I've seen a team on for quite a while.

I'm not taking anything away from their success. You make your own luck. But, man, things are bouncing our way. Every week is another one-score game with us on top.

For a team that's only +17 in point differential and so dependent on turnovers forced (we now lead the league with 33 forced turnovers), it is hard to understand how this run is happening.

Seven of Eight. Who'd a thunk....

Kinda like some of Cowhers old teams.

Watt is coming on, Fitz improved the back end of the secondary significantly. Bush is bringing a speed element to the D. Nelson brings improved corner play. Dupree and Hargrave are playing like it is a contract year both hungry. When you D is playing SB caliber noteworthy, it gives a team a fighting chance to win each week. What is the old saying? Defense will get you to a SB offense will win it? No luck involved just damn good football on one side. Game manager type football on the other side.

Game ball: Shades for coaching a hell of a game.
Goat: Shades for calling a stupid fake punt on 4th and 5.

Watching the Rams tonight, it reminds me that it'd be nice to see some bootlegs/misdirection plays etc.

You mean like that flea flicker that fooled no one since the RB didn't even take a step forward? If you aren't gonna practice the misdirection enough that it's smooth, don't even try it in the game.

We took that stadium over pretty hard. The damn PA was calling for Cardinals fans to get loud and we drowned them out every single time. Great showing for the Nation.

Thought Duck played an outstanding game but a few notes. He had a couple of quick outs where he could have hit the middle of the field instead. This is him getting rid of the ball quick, which is good but he also needs to be aware of better opportunities if he has them.

Whyte is really damn fast out there. If we can get him outside he's going to get some yards.

Diontae Johnson is growing each week into exactly what he was drafted for. Thankful that the midget is on IR for the year so this kid can return punts.

This defense is electric. They got a little winded in the second quarter with the quick snap offense but they adjusted and shut down Murray in the end. He may not be getting his name posted often, but Nelson is playing exceptionally well opposite Haden. Well enough that teams are making the mistake of targeting Haden and paying the price for it. Enjoy this defense while we have it.

Props to Super Bowl Winning Head Coach Michael Vincent Lombardi Tomlin for the game plan and in game adjustments to get this W.
