Well I am certainly not surprised with this piss poor effort by the Steelers tonight. This team has one problem and it's a MONSTER of a problem....they bring a one dimensional offense to the table each and every week and they are making it too easy for opposing Defenses. I can't remember a Steelers team that really couldn't run the football in my almost 50 years of watching Steeler football. Even in the lean years in the mid 80's with Chuck Noll and RB's like Walter Abercrombie & Rich Erenberg was the Steelers running game this pathetic. Heck I almost think the Steelers could suit up Rocky Bleier & Franco Harris right now and have an improved running game over what we've seen this season. The Bungles have one of the worst run Defenses in the NFL and they still can't run the damn ball. The O-line is a complete joke and the fact that they are trying to use this quick passing game and it's allowing Defenses to all come up into the box and just smash the Steelers in the mouth. I know there has been some chat about another December collapse making it 3 years in a row.....well right now since 2018 in December our Steelers are 5-9 which is very disturbing. Is it coaching? Maybe....I did see a few different things from the offense tonight and Ben was under center a little more but nothing different with regards to play calling.....Fitchner....UGH! I do know one thing the Steelers quick passing game needs to go bye-bye.....it's not fooling anyone anymore and it's compromising our ability to run the football when you have an entire Defense within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Usually there's something positive I can focus on in a game but in tonight's debacle there really is nothing I take from this game that was a positive. This team has spiraled completely into the *******! I said last week that this team would not win another game this season and they will be one and done in the playoffs and I'll stand by that statement. This team is DONE! Also after watching Ben throw the football the last several weeks I'm starting to become concerned that his arm is shot! Either that or he's being given too much time off during the week and it's showing in his throws and timing with his WR's. Maybe Ben needs to practice a full week of practice from here on out. This team has no chance against Indy next week or Cleveland the following week. That final game will be Cleveland's Super Bowl. They will look to embarrass the Steelers in Cleveland and embarrass us they will........with a Cleveland victory they will win the division as our Steelers will have blown a 3 game lead in the division with 5 weeks to play. If that happens that will put the Clowns in the #3 see and the Steelers as the #6 seed which means we would go right back to Cleveland the following week for our first and last playoff game of the 2020 season. I have completely lost faith in this team. I hope they prove me wrong but I don't think they will. This team is on life support for the 2020 season and I'm disgusted right now seeing our season turn like this.

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
Eric Ebron - Back Injury being evaluated
DJ Watt - Concussion he's in the protocol
Marcus Allen - Stinger but was able to return

Game Balls:
Minkah Fitzpatrick - 6 tackles including a key tackle on 3rd down on Lindley to force the Bungles to punt.

Game Goats:
Ben Roethlisberger - Either his arm is shot or he needs to practice a full week to get his timing down with his WR's
Mike Tomlin - Your team had to win to secure the AFC North and you couldn't even get this team prepared to play a pathetic 2-10-1 Bungles team on the road

FU's:
Randy Fitchner - Take your short quick passing game and shove it up your ***! You've made this offense one dimensional by doing that....Defenses are loading up 11 players within 5yds of the Line of Scrimmage and they are just smashing your dink & dunk passing game!

Game ball Benny Snell 4.7 yards per carry

Tomlin again losing to a team with a sub .200 winning percentage.

Well said. As for Ben, I think it's a combination of fatigue and piss poor o line play. 38, coming off arm surgery and being asked to throw 50 times a game, wtf is the coaching staff thinking. The line rarely gives Ben time to be Ben anymore. Midway through the 2nd quarter, I commented to my wife that they shouldn't throw the ball again until they put the ball in the end zone. Send a message to the line and OC, that one way or another you're going to fix the running game.

It is now obvious that Fichtner and Sarrett need to be fired. I'm not sure Canada is the guy either if his solution is to install more college spread bullshit.

I don't think Ben was that bad tonight. He missed some throws but he wasn't as bad as people think and not as bad as Brian Griese made him out to be. He kept harping on that throw to Ebron where he claims Claypool was wide open. He wasn't. The other S was rotating back and would have been back there by the time the ball got there. Maybe it would have been a better decision to throw that but it was not wide open as Griese said.

The main problem is that Ben has to thread the needle too often. The WRs just aren't open by much. Defense are squeezing the short routes and that's all Fichtner wants to do.

Claypool is NOT a good WR. Not yet anyway. He is a physical speciman but he's a ****** route runner and does not have great ball skills. For as big as he is, he should be coming down with these 50/50 balls.

Penn State's former OC Joe Moorehead was asked about why McSorley was throwing so many 50/50 balls and Moorehead answered back that with guys like Godwin and Geskcki, they were more like 80/20 balls so they would keep throwing them. It makes sense. Problem is with Claypool they are more like 30/70 balls.

He needs to be taught how to come back on the ball and draw that flag. He has gotten some calls but should be getting more. He also needs to actually catch some of these contested balls. He makes almost no contested catches.

The Bengals completed just 7 passes and won. They stayed committed to the run against a top defense. Bernard ended up averaging just 3.3 per carry. BUt they kept chipping away. The Steelers seem to expect to get 4 yards on each and every run and if they don't they just throw up their hands and say it can't be done, so may as well pass. That's horseshit.

Notice that the offense came alive when they started running the ball some. They didn't run a ton, but just a few successful runs and all of a sudden, passes were more open. Funny how that works. By funny, i mean it's ******* first day coaching **** that seemingly everybody except Fichtner knows.

The Steelers should have had about 50 rushing attempts in this game. I'm serious. That should have been the whole gameplan. So what if you have some 3 and outs early, you are already having those at at alarming rate by passing all the time.

I sure hope the light came on for Fichtner when he saw the offense move because of some runs. Also, it's as if somebody told him that throwing to the RB is legal and he wasn't aware of that.

Here's the problem. Fichtner thinks he's coaching a team with an elite OL, and great WRs who all get separation. He needs to adjust to the fact that he has a mediocre OL and only 1 WR, Dionte Johnson, who can get separation consistently. He needs to help the OL with TE and RB blocking so that the WRs have more time to get open.

Great post, 100% spot on. The coaching staff is the biggest thing holding this team back.

Good to see someone else watched the same game I did. Was beginning to think I was alone.

My guess is we lose out. Ben and our vets will now have to play in the last game and get no rest for the playoffs. 1 and done is all I see for this team right now and that 1 may be a blowout.

I woud give Jordan Berry a game ball. He pointed very well and the steelers gave him plenty of chances.

Great post, 100% spot on. The coaching staff is the biggest thing holding this team back.

I have been saying that for YEARS. Ben masked the problems until he got old. Mark my words 2021 is going to be brutal. Tomlin's bad coaching, a QB on his last legs, a hard free agency period and negative cap space. The schedule will be tougher too.

This team always plays to win by “out talenting” the opposition. Usually it works. The problem is the key piece stopped playing at a high level and it shows. The coaching staff built this team throughout the season to be one dimensional in every sense of the word and its leading to yet another December collapse.

Tomlin can't motivate a team, that is all media driven. I see Ben and the other leaders on the team going "blah blah blah" when he speaks...it truly shows on the field. They haven't played like a team in years, say they do, but you don't continue losing to bad teams and collapse in December if you do
This OC is high school level at best, his season game plan was to ride the back of a 38 year old QB coming off major elbow surgery, maybe run with a mediocre RB who can't stay healthy...and here we are

Its 7:30am, OC and OLC are still employed...shows that Tomlin and Rooney are committed to losing

PEOPLES, there will be no mid-season firing, pure fantasy. If we get one of the three (Fitchner / OL / ST) fired in the off-season, we will be lucky. I'm guessing Fitchner stays provided Tomlin stays.

There is something going on behind the scenes regarding BEN. Hurt / Mad / disagreement / something.

Game ball extra point holder.

Salute the nation

I actually feel bad for the defense. They are trying but the war of attrition is taking it's toll and they are getting beaten down with all the injuries and substitutions. Then when the offense can't get first downs and they spent the whole game on the field, so they are dead on their feet by the 2nd quarter. I thought they played with a lot of heart despite the circumstances. Despite being beyond exhausted they still nutted up and stopped Cinci on their final drive in the 4th quarter. Our offense couldn't come through.

Fitchner must go, the offense is bad on an epic level. How can a line with 2 pro bowlers (I just saw Decastro and Pouncey were named to the pro bowl THIS year so they can't suck too bad!) not run the ball against anyone including the Bungles with one of the worst run D's in the league...

The last touchdown drive showed no urgency at all it should have been no huddle to save time a strength of Ben's

Then we gain 0, yes 0 yards on our last drive. No one but Johnson can separate from a defender so where are the rub plays runs and deep shots to loosen the defense. Ben sucked but most plays there is no where to throw the ball.

This is the 2nd straight year the offense has fallen off the cliff at the end of the year. If Fitchner is the OC next year this team doesn't care about winning.

You can see them fading physically and mentally as the game goes along vs. Buffalo and Cinci. They bail the offense out 2 times and then its over

Yep and with every guy they lose for the season they are just having to work harder every week. You can seem them weakening with every passing game.
