I like that AV is 6'9' with long arms. More time with Munchak to work on his foot speed and hands and AV could be the LT for the next 10 years. The bigger question on the OL is Pouncey. Can you rely on him at C or do you move him to G? If Pouncey does move to G, then a C via FA or draft becomes a priority. Then I think we only sign one between Beachum and Foster. DeCastro is going to be extended which will open up some $$. I believe his cap hit will be $8m this coming year.

Well look at the two teams in the Super Bowl, they picked #1 and #2 just 4 years ago, that helps too, we having had a top 10 pick since what, 2000?

By design, that should help, but then again, explain the Browns? They seem to have a top 3 pick every year for decades. The Pats haven't had a top 10 pick for how long? And yet they make it to the AFC Championship game, or Super Bowl, every year.

And they do it with mostly low draft picks.

Going down the list, their picks were 32, 29, 52, 21, 17, 27, 34...........

Here is my opinion on how each could fit the Steelers... or not fit, which is mostly the case...

1. Robert Griffin III, QB Washington ---- ---------------Nope...Griffin will be looking for a shot for redemption where he can start day one, while the need for a backup QB is there, RG3 will not be a backup QB
2. Mario Williams, DE Bills ($12.9 million)----------- -Nope.... We need depth DEs, there is little to no chance Mario Williams is a non starter and no way they sign him to play over Tuitt or Heyward
3. Chris Long, DE Rams ($11.8 million)-------------- Nope, at his size he doesn't really fit our DE scheme... his lack of production and age probably precludes him from an OLB backup role too
4. Matt Kalil, LT Vikings ($11.1 million)----------------Um yes please, I mean if he comes reasonable, and by reasonable I mean less than Beachum... he has underperformed but has all the talent in the world and is 26ish.
5. Charles Johnson, DE Panthers ($11 million)- ----now he might take a backup role... at 29 and severely underproductive last year, I'm not sure we'd want him, especially since he is about 15 lbs light for our D
6. Ryan Clady, LT Broncos ($8.9 million)------------ Injury prone, just like all our Left tackles/ olinemen... he would fit right in... and be certain to get Villanueva some snaps too... seriously though he will likely be outpriced for us if he hits the market, but one can dream....
7. Lawrence Timmons, LB Steelers ($8.6 million)-- well the smart thing would be to keep him, but he is playing the position with the greatest depth on the team next to WR, and Shazier is injury prone...
8. Jared Allen, DE Panthers ($8.5 million)-- ---------too old... not sure hed want to make a scheme switch to play as a backup instead of just retiring
9. Antonio Cromartie, CB Jets ($8 million)--- -------wow, it would be great... but he would be a rare good starting level CB on the free agent market, so in other words we cannot afford him...
10. Pierre Garcon, WR Washington ($8 million) ---Just say no to crack... and more wideouts....
11. Dashon Goldson, SS Washington ($8 million)---if I wanted a hard hitting safety that couldn't cover id demand Shamarko to get more playing time... also there will be better safety options out there if you were bringing a guy in...
12. Jordan Cameron, TE Dolphins ($7.5 million)---- Why? Miller has a season or two left... James proved competent with upside... id rather a spot be open for a younger guy than bringing in another non bargain basement vet for the third TE
13. Jerod Mayo, LB Patriots ($7 million---------------- We have Vince Williams... Vince Williams is better than Mayo at this point, and cheaper
14. Arian Foster, RB Texans ($6.6 million)----------- on a bargin backup deal... I would be Ok with it... Tomlin will have to learn to share the ball though
15. Ahmad Brooks, OLB 49ers ($6.4 million)----------No way... pure Bengal Material there
16. Trent Cole, DE Colts ($6.1 million)----------------- Old and done.. pass without second thoughts
17. Victor Cruz, WR Giants ($6.1 million)--------------Again, Just say no to crack... and more wideouts....
18. Stephen Tulloch, LB Lions ($6 million)----------I don't know much about Tulloch, probably cause he plays for the other armpit of the NFL in Detroit... kind of like the Browns without the notoriety... He is 31, and we don't need him, but as a potential ex Lion we have a 90% chance of signing him....
19. Zane Beadles, LG Jaguars ($5.5 million)-------You know what, if he comes moderately priced and can replace foster, (assuming Foster chases big bucks elsewhere) I'd be down with this....
20. Andre Johnson, WR Colts ($5 million)----------Again, Just say no to crack... and more wideouts....Also he is hell-a-done....
21. Kyle Williams, DT Bills ($4.5 million)------------- 32 so it would be a risk, he is probably done, more or less, but he fits what we'd want as a DE a bit, so maybe? I mean as a backup pure and simple...
22. Jason Hatcher, DT Washington ($4.2 million)--- Also old and done... only older.. and doner than most
23. Rey Maualuga, LB Bengals ($4.1 million)-------We need Ilbs less than anything but wr's
24. Dwayne Bowe, WR Browns ($4 million)--------one more time, no crack... No wideouts....
25. Darren Sproles, RB Eagles ($3.5 million)-------Oh I am scared...a 32 year old tiny RB who makes his living on speed and quickness... we love that concept and he is the kind that falls off of a cliff

If Sproles was 4 years younger, I'd love him on this roster

If Sproles was 4 years younger, I'd love him on this roster

If Troy Polamalu was 10 years younger, id love him on this roster too... though I bet we could play a 32 year old Sproles vs the bengals, still win, and save Bell's legs for a change...

Most of us thought we were in fine cap shape, turns out we are in the 4th worst shape of all teams.

I'm not that worried about it, but our situation isn't as rosy as we thought. And I no longer think our front office is so crafty and clever.

Other teams seem to find ways to create way more cap room than we EVER have, and I'm not just talking about cellar dwellers either.

I think there is something basically antiquated with how we operate.

Maybe you need to wait till the new cap numbers are out and the restructuring is finished before being critical. And I never have seen anyone get a Lombardi for most cap space

Much ado about nothing. Rule of 51 puts us $5M under. These writing hacks are not capologists.
