Former Steeler Carlton Haselrig passed away at 54

I too liked him a lot.

May he R.I.P. And blessings to his family / friends.

Salute the nation

I was thinking the same thing. How do you die at 54 from natural causes. Dying at 54 isnt natural

I think a lot of lineman die young from heart problems because they weighed so much in their playing days, also a lot of them don't lose weight when they're done playing.

It's why I really don't begrudge them their money. Now, I don't like guys who signed a contract not wanting to live up to the deal, but guys who have fulfilled their deal, or guys who are getting screwed because they were drafted later than they should have been, and are making peanuts, like Willie Parker, or Barry Foster, I don't get mad when they try to get paid. The game extracts a toll on most of them, and a terrible toll on an unfortunate number of guys.

i wrestled in high school so naturally the guy was one of my all time favorites. Nothing but good karma from me to his family as they navigate difficult times. Rest in Peace.

I'm a HS wrestling Coach and he remained active at camps and such around the District 6 area. In the late 80's I used to drive up to UPJ and watch their matches, and he was just an incredible athlete. When you cause the NCAA committee to ban D2 and D3 athletes from competing in the D1 championships, you done embarrased some people. lol.

Really sad that D2 and D3 athletes can't compete in D1 for winning their leagues.

Sick that Haselrig won the D2 and D1 championship, 2 years in a row!

I believe that the NCAA should set a rule stating that D2 and D3 National Champs can wrestle up a division IF they have wins over 6 or more wrestlers from that division. That way you dont have guys with scrub wins entering the tournament and embarrassing themselves and the sport..
