First round of NFL draft gets shortened to 8 minutes.

A rare positive change for the NFL. On paper, this should shorten the first round, but based on the draft ending at 11:45 pm, teams use just over 7 minutes per pick. Even if it cuts off 30 minutes, it'll end at 11:15, which would be nice. Maybe they could consider the same starting primetime games at least 30 minutes earlier (I'd love a 7:00 or 7:30 pm start.

It’s a good move by the league. The first night of the draft is too long.I just hope everything goes well for the city of Pittsburgh those days, including the weather.
I also hope if the Steelers stay at about 20 in the first round, that we select ILB linebacker Sonny Styles from Ohio State. Or defensive tackle Peter Woods Clemson, if he’s still there that late.
I understand we need a wide receiver too, but we have to absolutely reinforce our ability to stop the opposing teams run game. It has been downright terrible and absolutely embarrassing to watch.
Woods probably won’t be available at 20, but I would definitely be open to trading up to draft him. In my humble opinion, he has pro bowl written over him.

We need 1 DL & 1 OL drafted in the first 4 rounds. Both lines need help and if the current status of the OL is acceptable, then the tomlin needs gone even sooner.

I agree that maybe a bonafide OL scheme and coach could make a hellA difference, but until that happens we are stuck.

I too am glad for the shortening of the time.

Salute the nation

Had Woods had a productive season? I think his draft status is more on potential than production am I correct?

IMO you don’t trade up for those types and you have to be careful in drafting one in round 1. Especially high…

Peter Woods had much to do with Clemsons outstanding run defense this season. These numbers are very good especially for college football. IMHO..
Best defensive lineman on the board in the 2026 NFL draft. Woods, Harmon, and Benton are an effective trio in a 3/4 defense.

I was referencing more of his pass rush progress what is that in comparison?

He doesn’t put up huge numbers in that regard.
Penetrator an a space eater is his superpowers…
I know you never know how they react in the NFL, these big strong, athletic young men sometimes turn into nightmares for quarterbacks also.
