Just for fun and lack of hard football news, I thought I would do a post draft run through of the First Pick simulation and see where our draft picks fell in that simulation. I picked for the Steelers and picked the position, but not the player that we picked at each pick we had except we only had one 3rd round in the simulation. In Round 7 pick number 2 since we traded it I picked a punter. This was an attempt to see where First Pick thought our drafted players would fall. I then searched the draft recap. I repeated this five times and below are our draft selection, where we took them, the high from First Pick and the Low from First Pick. Just thought it might be worthy of off season discussion.

Terrell Edmunds, Draft - 1/28, First Pick High 3/24, First Pick Low 4/13
James Washington, Draft - 2/28, First Pick High 1/31, First Pick Low 2/27
Mason Rudolph, Draft - 3/12, First Pick High 2/3, First Pick Low 3/5
Chuks Okorafor, Draft - 3/28, First Pick High 2/15, First Pick Low 3/8
Marcus Allen, Draft - 5/11, First Pick High 2/19, First Pick Low 3/19
Jaylen Samuels, Draft - 5/28, First Pick High 4/1, First Pick Low 4/28
Joshua Frazier, Draft - 7/28, Frazier was not drafted in any of the five scenarios I ran

By First Pick standards Edmunds was taken two rounds earlier than predicted, Washington was taken at the spot predicted, Rudolph was taken about a round later than predicted, Okorafor was taken about a round later than predicted, Allen was taken two rounds later than predicted, Samuels was taken a round later than predicted and Frazier should have been an UFA.

According to First Pick we have two reaches (1st Round and 7th Round), one selected for appropriate value (2nd Round), three good value (both 3rd rounds and one 5th round) and one great value (5th round). As we know only time will tell. Just thought it was an interesting way to get an immediate grade on the draft.

Yeah not sure why Edmunds was rated that low to begin with. Perhaps like Dupree he is a little more of a developmental type in some's view. I thought he showed enough athleticism and production to be at least a 2nd rounder. Which is how I view the Steelers picks 1-4.

Like I mentioned in another thread, if you view this as 4 second rounders picked. I think most would be fairly happy getting that talent/value.

Interesting. There was quite a bit of conversation about Okafor, here, mostly that he was a huge reach, but that site seems to have him about right. We will find out, eventually.

As for Edmunds, i dont really know what to think. A couple safeties projected for 1st round or high second, went in the 3rd.. So, teams, clearly, didn't value them as much as the talking heads did.

I just think it was a niche market pick. He is a tweener Rover player. Good for the Sub Packages they will play. They couldnt get a traditional linebacker that could fill that void. So what happened is they didn't get "value" because as a traditional safety he isnt that high. But if you try to put 185-190 lb ballhawk in the spots where they will use this dude they will run the ball up your ***. What they got is versatility so they can be scheme flexible. They overpaid but they got value in the third at QB and Tackle.

They overpaid

that was the menu listing

but the Steelers see it as a 4 star restaurant

so the food might just be better than advertised

we'll see

All based on a completely subjective board of this website's ranking of players or their value there in. The Steelers have their own board and they could care less about where other teams, media draft gurus, websites, or fans rank players.
