Fichtner Officially in as Offensive Coordinator

This awful offense hung 42 on Jags #1 D. What else do you want?!?! Oh, yeah. A converted 4 & 1. THAT would have won the game. The Jags just wouldn't have marched down the field again? C'Mon. Be for real.

Didn't realize you were a ******* psychic, maybe you should change your board name to Miss Cleo.

LMAO, Vick is who you use as an example? Let's look at the West Coast offense that Walsh designed around Joe Montana. I bet if the Falcons had tried to make Vick into a 7 step drop pocket passer they would have had much more success...LOL You can't make this **** up.

Why the **** would you want an all new system?

You know what, we should have kept Haley, told Ben to go piss up wind, and had Jones or Dobbs as the QB next year...Great ******* plan. Let's see, coddle Ben or coddle tequilla Todd...tough ******* choice there.

Yep. Bill Walsh drafted Montana in the THIRD round and said, "You know what? I just drafted the greatest QB in the history of football. I have to blow up my coaching philosophy and create a brand new scheme."
Do you seriously believe that? Are you not familiar with actual history?
Bill Walsh didn't invent the West Coast because of Montana.
It was already invented prior to drafting Montana.
He drafted Montana to play in that already established system.
Walsh found players to fit his system.

I don't want a new system. I like the system we have. And apparently everyone else does, too. You all just don't like Tequila Todd's personality and the fact that he hurts Ben feelings.
Thanks for your playbook, Todd.

Riiiight. It takes psychic ability to see we weren't getting off the field on third down ALL DAY.
I have to be Kreskin to see us give up 45.
It's called logic and drawing a reasonable conclusion based off the overwhelming evidence.
Could we have won the game by converting one of those disastrous 4 and 1s? We could have.
And I could have had a V-8 this morning or stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
But I'm still not sure how any of that would have corrected our paper mache defense for the entire game.

Haley wasn't horrible, but he left alot to be desired.
Did anyone see one fade route to Bryant this year?
We were one of the lowest play action teams in the league. I'm sure that went hand in hand with how often we go empty set. That's one thing that needs to happen alot less, the # of times we go empty set.

There never seemed to be a purpose to our offense, using plays to set up plays later, using certain routes to clear out an area for another guy.

How often were any of our wr's wide open for an easy completion? Not very, but it seemed almost every week our opponent would have guys wide open for an easy catch. I'm sure part of that was our D, but it was also those teams attacking our weakness and setting up their routes.

Haley gets all this credit for Ben not getting hit so much and he deserves some, but compare the Olines we've had recently to that **** show we had in 2008-2011

I’m not going to totally **** on everything Haley did. Remember Brucey and his 5-7 drop back every damn time with that horrible offensive line. We needed to introduce some 3 step drops and quicker passes.

That said it seemed like we rarely set up the defense via play action or pump and goes. Seemed like it was pretty easy for the defense to read and react. I saw one fake on the bubble screen since Haley been here and that went for 40 yards to James. Idk I think Fichtner will let Ben do more of what he likes and probably give him a little more control but I just hope Ben doesn’t go completely rogue and try to run the offense alone.

Haley was pretty bad. Ben hated him and with good reasons. For all our talents, the red zone was an issue.

I hope Fitchner puts back in the QB Sneak, and uses play action a bit more. These are easy things to do. Other minor things such as having Ben roll out once in a while to surprise a defense, and using our TE's like we did in Jacksonville could make our offense even that harder to defend.

I'd like to see less WR bubble screens, less wide runs on 3rd and short, and figure out a way to get Bryant 1-2 more targets a game.

So again, when we succeed, it's only because of Ben.
When we fail, it's only because of Haley.

And if what you're saying is true, then when isn't been calling an audible on these awful 4th down plays? He can run the offense EVERY OTHER SINGLE PLAY that you like, but the play that fails is not on Ben. Now it's on the coaching.
Stop. Please.
And gee, nobody in the history of football has ever looked awesome moving the football in a no huddle approach. Why is that?
Is it because the team in a no huddle is down by multiple scores and needs to conserve clock and try to get the defenses winded, although the defense is now playing big play prevent and keep the offense in bounds to keep the clock moving?
How about the defense making a stop or two so that the offense is actually gaining ground in the scoring?!
How about the defense not surrender 45 to BLAKE BORTLES, a bust RB in Yeldon, and a bunch of also ran receivers?!

Not for nothing, but the Defense did NOT allow the Jags to score 45 points. In fact, you could go so far as to say that the D allowed fewer points than we scored. That is a fact for, at least, 7 points and could be stretched to 14. Split the TD after the int by 1/2 and you still get the D allowing fewer points than we scored.

I'd also suggest that, even if running hurry up/no huddle, it does not, necessarily, mean that Ben is calling the plays. The OC still has contact with the QB.

I do wonder, as does fedderone, why can Ben call plays the hurry up/no huddle but not audible to something on a 4th and 1? Seems odd.

I gotta disagree with your point that it's just Haley's personality that rubs people the wrong way.

Agreed his personality is a problem. Agreed his playbook is great. But my biggest beef with Haley was what others in this thread have already stated. He wasn't great at actually calling the game. There are too many wasted downs on plays that don't make sense in the situation, or plays that just never really worked like that quick screen or reverse to MB. We weren't as good as we should have been on short yardage or in the red zone, and again, a lot of times it was because plays were called that just didn't make sense for the situation.
