First off, I have said this several times. I don't think this is a blowout. The Steelers are not blowing anyone out unless they get 3 turnovers or more. That said it does feel like a must win. Tons of remortgages taken out. Tons of free agents next year with limited cap room. Ben's best days are behind. In my mind Tomlin would have been on a train out years ago, but what would a loss mean Sunday for him. I know he will not be fired, but in what other franchise would he not? How many last chances does he get?
Oh and then the pressure Juju applied by running his mouth off. Again adds to the must win.

Every playoff game is a must win.
But, I get what you're saying. With all the roster turnover that's coming next year, I'd be amazed if we fielded a team as good as this one. Cap constraints won't allow for FA pickups (Which we don't generally dip into that well anyway). If I'm Ben, I'm looking at that situation and really considering whether my health will allow me to deal with all that (or if the missus will allow it without a whole lot of arguments).
Tomlin is here until either his contract runs out and he takes another job somewhere else or he retires. Good or bad, that's pretty much a fact that I'd be shocked if it changed.

Summed up nicely. BEN has made Tomlin to never have a losing season. I think that Tomlin has a free ride as you've stated but I think the AB end year upper management put a candle under his ***. We have seen results but somewhere Srt Duece may find a sack and say we need a little better results.

I said at the start of the season thjat unless they make it to the AFCCG, this season is a fail. All excuses have bveen used up and trhere is no looking back.

Salute the nation

In the terms I think you are putting "must win" I don't think it is. I am gathering you're saying the Steelers must win or else there'll be major changes. I don't think that'll be the case.

We already know there'll be a ton of changes on the roster. That isn't changing based on the results this weekend.

Short or deep playoff run, the Steelers need a change at OC. It was bad last year without Ben. It was for too much of the year this season with Ben. The same problems were in place when Mason started.

Beyond that, is anything really going to change? The only thing I can see is a first-round loss and a bad performance may make Ben think twice about coming back for another season.

Do you feel pressure cuz of JuJu? I sure as hell don’t.

Ben’s time is running short, TBH I think this year for us to reach Super Bowl it would be a miracle. I wouldn’t say that if we were fully healthy (having Bush, Banner and Dupree) as I’d put the Steelers against anyone.

Still, since everyone is facing cap issues next year I think they’re going to work something out to spread it out over a number of years.

I understand the chuckles here. I'm speaking on a grand franchise scheme here. You lose this game, i really don't know how you can continue to package up this great Tomlin coach narrative. How much more are the fans and ownership gonna take?

They would throw out Ben is declining,(at fault) or injuries. You know the normal.[emoji16][emoji56]

Everyone is just having a little fun, if you take things too seriously all the time, life passes you by and wondering how you got there.

At some point, Tomlin needs to either **** or get off the pot. I think if they lose tomorrow, his job should be in jeopardy, but it won't be

The Steelers have done little in the playoffs for a decade now, and the 2016-2019 seasons all ended in disastrous ways, and this one could as well, as a loss tomorrow would result in a 1-5 finish to an 11-0 start.

It's getting harder to cite legitimate justifications for keeping Tomlin. People argue that any replacement could potentially be worse. Well, of course, but there comes a point where taking that risk is preferable to watching the same **** every year while expecting a different result.

I thought of our situation similar to that of Green Bay. The Packers had 8 straight playoff appearances and a Super Bowl under McCarthy, then struggled with a 7 and a 6 win season. There were questions about Rodgers as well. They bring in LaFleur and go 13-3 in back-to-back seasons losing to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game last year and earn the No. 1 seed this year with Rodgers playing at an MVP level. There are certainly other coaches out there who could elevate the Steelers.

The situation with the Packers and McCarthy is very comparable.

I just like to know what the standard for the Steelers is anymore. To me, three playoff wins since 2011 reeks of mediocrity, and that's what we've gotten from Tomlin.

Something I have said for a while. Very good and fair comparison. The Steelers stay the course and say "seeeeeee?" see what ?

Tomlin is an idiot. Losing to a team without 3 starters in their DB , 3 starters on their OLIne and he gives up 40 plus points once again in a playoff game.
