After carrying a heavy workload as a rookie in 2018, Terrell Edmunds is feeling comfortable, confident in his ability to shine in his second season.

Read his body fat percentage is down. And then you have a guy that won't be as confused on the field assignment wise.

Think less react more. If we can get this guy to step up in his second year it could have a ripple effect on the defense.

Oh, camp is such a happy time. All the players are amazing the offense scores every time the defense stops the offense every time. Camp is a happy place.

Wig, I hear wehat you are saying. If it translates to the field, all will be well. Edmunds did play a lot and got better and better as time went by. I see him stepping it up a notch this season and will be glad for it.

I keep coming back to this with the defence. Heyward, Hargrave and Tuitt up front. TJ and Bud (Meh), Bush, Barron, Vinnie inside. Haden, Nelson ( one of the biggest FA contracts given by the team) Davis and Edmund's on the back end. Even some of the subs and sub package players- Alualu, Ola, Chickillo, Hilton are decent/good players. How is this not a dominant defense?

Keith Butler...

He also said that Bud Dupree will be the key to this defense in 2019.

I see it oo but as with any great ship, it is dependent on the Captain.

Steeler goggles?

If communication is better, they should improve.

I dont see it as goggles at all 8 of the 11 are first or second round picks. Most of them are firsts. Like **** Tomlin and Butler what does it take?

What he said made sense. You need 2 good OLBs and Dupree is one of the two. However he is the LB coach, Tomlin is the de facto DC.

The D hasn't excelled because Tomlin has been running it since Lebeau left. If they don't do a lot better this year, Butler will be the scapegoat but nothing will change either way unless Tomlin sticks to being a head coach.

Under Cowher, all those 1st and 2nds...... Would be UNBELEIVABLY dominant. Cowher did a hell of a lot more with a hell of a lot less. Maybe Cowher was able to decipher "D" talent better or something. Tomlin on the other hand seems to have trouble doing anything with a whole hell of a lot. I swear I haven't witnessed less accomplished with the most available ever in the history of the sport (51 year STEELERS fan and franchise follower).

Projectile vomit.

TJ - 1st
Cam - 1
Hargrave - 3
Tuitt - 2
Bud - 1
Bush - 1
other ILB?
Hayden - 1
Edmunds - 1
Davis - 2
Burns - 1

Dear God, and they still can't make it work.

I thought Edmunds should be a bit lighter last year.

How much will he improve? Hard to say, I do not think he's a good coverage guy, this is not to say he can make plays vs the pass. His ball skills are fine.

Mentally he has to stop chasing receivers and learn to know when to look back for the incoming pass.

if we can't stop them with 12 men on the field then we really suck.

That was when only a few teams were running the 3-4, right?

We all need our happy place sometimes.

Sask I think it comes down to attitude and presence on the field. Dick LeBeau ( respect ---enough said) Aaron Smith never received awards but he was a presence on the field , James Farrior was a better player because of a black and gold uniform and the Steeler mindset, Troy elevated the whole team but he had Ryan Clark holding the fort behind him. Greene, Lambert and Blount were the model. We have some decent talent on DEF but it will take better coaching schemes and the emergence of a few key players to lead us back to that promised land. Cam Heyward up front needs to police the attitude ( play aggressive, inside the rules and don't take selfish penalties) TJ Watt is the motor on the outside (lets meet at the QB mentality) Devin Bush is going to need to become the new field general (good instincts, pedigree and speed kills) Joe Haden on the back end ( consumate pro -- lead by example) Edmunds and the other Safety candidates (need to shut the back door) run support and the last line of DEFENSE.

My biggest concern this year is Special Teams ---- We have talented returners in camp I just hope we can do a better job this year and cut out stupid penalties that always reduce any progress we make

Edmunds really got killed on this forum for the pick, but dude exceeded expectations for sure. He can roan, & is very athletic. I think he will take a huge leap this year...

Dupree is gonna look a whole lot better this year & here is why. Our D to a man is much better than last year. We can afford a "gambler", or "1 trick pony" with the other 10 being super solid. And solid we are.

Dominant? Remains to be seen. Forced turnovers are going to be what determines that. We have more speed on D & that will force more TO's.

I think Bud is gonna surprise many of you in this D. They will make up for his shortcomings because we are that solid, & he can afford to gamble, and he's gonna get some splash playes.

Watch............

I wasn't on this forum when Edmunds was drafted but I do remember saying to myself WHO?? but after reviewing the 2018 draft through all 7 rounds we didn't get the shot at Derwin James or Kyle Vander Esch or even R. Evans. That draft had a lot of solid talent near the top but died off around 22 pick. We all use hindsight and say Darius Leonard was there for the taking but honestly how many of us thought he would produce those stats. Other than Leonard who should we have taken. Edmunds could turn out to be a decent pick time will tell.

This was one play, but Terrell Edmunds impressed me with a splash play last season (early in the season I think it was). It was on STs and he forced a fumble, but the way he got in there and jarred that ball loose gave me flashbacks of Troy for a minute.

And there were other plays that weren't so spectacular, but like the article alludes to, he had a lot on his plate last year. I do expect this guy to take a big jump in year 2. Similar to Troy hopefully.
