Sucks that he was able to put it all together once he left.
hopefully the WR magic the Steelers have had drafting continues with Coates. CJ Mostly also made this list. Let's go Shazier stay healthy I want to see you on this list next year.

Thought he was another draft bust.

That's what happens when you have a HOFer throwing to you instead of just a game manager.

he was never as bad as we made him out to be... great route runner, which fits Peyton perfectly... everyone always thinks WRs need to catch every ball that hits their hands, and the truth is no wr does that, or even comes close to it, a couple drops, a couple early injuries and we as a fanbase gave up on him...

Hines and AB never miss.

Hines and AB never miss.

Totally untrue... Hines has been in double digits in dropped passes a few times... Brown has dropped balls, even in the end zone... and Wallace once led the league in fewest dropped passes despite his rep here... its all in the perception... heath has been dropping a bunch of late, yet he gets a pass because we don't focus on it...

If you look at the stats you see that there are more dropped passes (and for the most part it has to be a good pass, not high or low and not leading or behind you too much to be counted as a dropped pass, not just if you touch it) than you would expect in this pass happy NFL... its an old school train of thought from when they passed the ball 10 to 20 times a game and of those you were open a handful of times due to coverage that every ball has to be caught...

For the record, heath and Brown led the steelers last year with 5 drops each, sanders was not credited with a single dropped pass despite having 101 receptions

Lets expound on this more... in 2010, hines caught 59 passes and dropped 6, Wallace caught 60 passes and dropped 6... in our minds Wallace had a problem. the next year Brown caught 69 passes and dropped 7, Wallace caught 72 passes and dropped 6... its all relative in our heads

Oh if we only had someone here to tell us how average Sanders was/is.

Or we could just look back and see what he did while he was here. I think he is a classic example of what happens to some players after they are not resigned and the wake up moment happens. He had at least one fumble after the catch that looked like he was trying to hold on to a greased pig as I remember with no one touching him. He seems to be doing much better now than when he was here but there is no guarantee he would have done so had he stayed. Good for him I just wish we traded him to the cheats and got the third rounder for him.

If only we had a coaching staff that saw all that greatness. Probably wouldn't have wasted a pick on Bryant last year. Maybe they don't go with Coates this year?

Sanders wasn't a bad player here, but he was never going to be a highly productive receiver in Pittsburgh. My biggest problem with him is the different in effort he showed in Denver vs. Pittsburgh. Maybe it's just my imagination, but he could consistently come up with the tough, big catch with the Broncos that he couldn't do with us.

Wallace had more problems than just drops... like being lazy and over estimating his value

Sanders makes top 100: Who gives a ****?

You're not alone in that assessment.

My biggest gripe with Sanders while with the Steelers was that never seemed to make the difficult catch, whether it be making a great adjustment to a slightly inaccurate pass or coming up with a contested pass in traffic. He frequently did both things with the Broncos last season.

He's been a great route runner since he entered the league, but he needed a super precise timing passer to maximize his potential. Roethlisberger is not quite that guy.

His comments regarding Peyton's willingness to put in the extra work to enhance the timing with his receivers, compared to Ben, may have had some validity as well.

No doubt, but conversely, what does that say about Sanders as a player that he doesn't put forth an extra effort on the field for his QB. I'll be interested to see what type of receiver Sanders is when Manning retires.

Roethlisberger and Sanders just never had great chemistry on the field. Whether Sanders allowed the frustration from that to carry over into his effort and focus is hard to say.

Sanders is a good WR. He won't be nearly as good without Manning.

Sanders couldn't stay healthy here to save his life. He had 101 receptions this year, and how many targets? He never seen the amount of targets here.

For what its worth I think Sanders is a talented guy but remember Manning made Austin Collie and other no names look like hall of famers.

I don't think he's top100 or top 10 WR, but the Steelers made the right call in turning down a 3rd for him despite most people thinking otherwise.

He and Ben were never on the same page and a pass had to be perfectly thrown and he open for him to come down with it. We also tried to throw him deep down the sideline a lot and he was just covered or it wasn't an accurate pass
