At least to my knowledge, as bad as Tomlin is at challenges, he has never thrown a challenge flag and had it award the other team a touch down. Bengals fans want Taylor run out of town on a rail. They are done with him. He makes Tomlin look like a genius in game management. He can thank Burrow for his lone trip to the show.
They have disappeared. I just think there are plenty of things to disparage Tomlin about. That shouldn't be one.

And I merely pointed out that the two most spectacular plays in SB history (my opinion) occurred in the same game.
If Debo gets tackled at the 50-yard line, never reaching the endzone, or if Santonio doesn't toe tap like Anna Pavlova, they very likely lose the game.
The odds of both of those plays occurring the way they did is astronomical, which was my position all along.
Mike has a ring, the stars aligned for him, that's it.

Its that simple....maybe if Ben plays like Jalen Hurts has in his SB appearances we're not even having this conversation, because Ben wasnt good in any of his three SB appearances. Maybe he's the one that doesnt deserve a ring? Tomlin can only control what he can control. Unless you can point to a sequence in the game where Tomlin royally f'd up and could have cost the team the game then a lackbrain opinion of whether he deserves a ring, or not really doesnt matter.

good enough to win for sure. You couldn't place the blame on him if they would have lost.
When I say build a team it's just not about getting the most talent, but getting players that fit your team, system, culture, etc. He can't do that, as been proven because he inherited a team that had that, as those players and culture moved on, we see what's left.
Tomlin has all the input on acquisitions, he interviewed the GM candidates, how many Head Coaches interview the GM candidates?

It kind of is both ways
He was initially handed a very competitive roster with a franchise QB as a young coach. He ended up doing less with that gift than many expected.
The roster he was given aged out.
As coaches gain length of tenure they generally gain roster influence as well.
In his time as HC he gained more and more roster control after he wrecked the initial sports car into the oak tree.
When tasked with becoming the builder of the new car there have been many failures there as well including
1) his failed concept of weapons replacing the trenches so the LoS was neglected for years under his construction method until Weidl came along and recently began addressing this gross scheme failure
2) he failed to have a contingency plan as Ben was obviously aging out to replace the most important part of the race car…the engine that makes it go
3) he’s failed at developing the “talent” he’s been a part of bringing again…in his own words that’s not his job so maybe that failure is more on Art for allowing his HC to hold this perspective and retain his job.
4) now he’s attempting a duct tape method of bringing in old guys that used to be good to retain his streak of mediocrity and keep the car from finishing in the back half of the pack
5) has the
idea of running players til the wheels fall off as well, which frequently contributed to his car being in less than ideal shape (missing 1-2 wheels) when he would make the playoffs So the two don’t have to be mutually exclusive as his influence has grown and role has changed over his extremely long tenure.
Hopefully that helps clear some of it up

Followed by not being able to build his own and simply sustaining mediocrity
So yes he’s failed in multiple regards in first coaching a contender and then building one
But he’s great at word salads and Art loves him

The way a second year HC schemed the Packers, in their house really makes ya wonder why a 19 year HC looks so lost.
Sadly a team that hasn’t broke the 5 win threshold in years looks every bit as legit a contender as the Steelers do, probably have a better direction to where their arrow is pointing as well regarding future years.
That defense just shut the Pack down in their house with the 27th highest paid D
For reference Tomlin’s D paid about 175%-180% of what that unit makes.
It seems that all great teams have had three things in common aside from just being great, and it must include all 3.

Seems they get lucky more often than other teams.

I said a page or two back that every coach does boneheaded ****. The better coaches do less boneheaded **** than the others.
And with a 19 year history with the team, we have credentials proving that this won't change.
