Duck killed us. Now what at QB??

You absolutely better stick with Duck. Tomlin is dumb enough to switch back to Rudolph though.

Duck faced a top 3 defense last night in basically a playoff game, his first big time game. He wasn't the only one that sucked. The OL sucked, Tevin Jones 2 drops(he shouldnt be in the NFL), our #1 TE is Nick Vannett(he's a good #3). Berry was atrocious and cost us 7pts. Edmunds was his usual self, he's a backup at best.

Atleast Duck got a taste of a big time game against a pretty damn good defense that was sending blitz after blitz. The coaches left him out to dry with no adjustments to offset those blitzes.

The OL didn't have their best game either. Haven't had a good season. The loss of Munchack has been crucial. They knew with the loss of Ben they would have to elevate their game and they really haven't done that.

I don't necessarily think Hodges is better than Rudolph, but switching back at this point is a bad idea. Run it against the Jets like you did against the Bengals. Start Duck and if he sucks, put Rudolph in. The offense needs some consistency.

Duck made some horrible decisions with the football.
To be fair he is playing with c and d level skill players at every single position, add an overrated O-line and ****** playcalling, what do you expect?

Couple of truth bombs for the Duck detractors:

1. Fictner sucks.
2. The OL is average.
3. Ben and all the starters managed a grand total of 3 ******* points against the league’s #1 defense.
4. Duck and a bunch of other backups scored 10 points against the league’s #3 defense.

It doesn't matter who the QB is. As I've been saying all along, you can only count on this offense putting up 13 points per game. Anything more than that is a bonus.

I think Duck's lofty YPA in his first three starts may have turned out to be a bit of mirage because of:

a) the level of competition, and
b) deeper 50/50 balls mostly going his way in those games.

Last night, Washington wasn't coming down with those jump balls, some of which were more like 20/80 shots. Hodges needs to learn that those types of passes are not going to cut it consistently at this level. He can make the intermediate throws accurately, but he has to recognize them when they're there. Just take what the defense is giving...4 INTs is a total disaster and completely unnecessary.

You stay with Duck, give him JuJu, and have a come to Jesus meeting with the OC.
I’d love to say go back to Mason because ideally I want him to be the heir to Ben, but the fact is he had more talent around him when he was in, and did less with the offense. The coaches know better than any of us, so whatever they decide I’m fine with. Buffalo #3 D in the league vs 3rd QB. No one here though that It could go down the way it did last night?
If I could have one play back it was on the first INT in the end zone, where it seemed Washington was the better option across the field and the Duck didn’t even look at him. That was my only issue. Other than that, Duck has shown some guts, which is appreciated.

Look, duck and Rudolph are playing like young qbs play... allen made a bunch of miserable throws that game too... his footwork looks a ton like Rudolph’s too... go take a look at how many times Lamar Jackson, playong in a tailor made offense for him and with more talent around him, has thrown for less than 200 yards... or look at some of Baker Mayfield’s games.. a bunch of posters here swung on his nutsack because he has the “it factor” or whatever since last year... he looked ten times worse than Rudolph vs the 49rs this year, and he had two years starting vs Rudolph’s first start... Duck outright beat him...

Forcing guys to go downfield because we want flashy numbers and high scoring games is not constructive... Tom brady goes games with one or two deep shots at all.. everything he does is near the line and he does fine...

We don’t have a true deep threat... the oline blocking schemes are garbage, the run game is not established at all... our wr corps are virtually newborns, our most veteran WR is johnny fn Holton, who i am certain is DHB in a mask, we barely have a TE.. our best Wr and Te is injured...

when he plays, our best RB is playing with one shoulder shot. Our other rbs are a guy who can catch but not run well, a guy who can run between the tackles well but not catch, a guy who has speed to the outside but is useless otherwise, a guy who is a little bit of everything but not spectacular at anything, and from what i see none of them passblock well.... out probowl level fullback is on IR

On top of that our OC looks overmatched and we don’t have a qb coach....

I am going to cut these guys a break.. they arent veteran hall of famers... they are virtual or real rookies. They have done exceptional comparatively to the overall state of the offense and tgeir experience level...

The biggest issue with Hodges that I saw was the way that he was winding up with his arm when he needed to put some mustard on it. From what I saw that more than anything telegraphed the throws and against quality corners that's going to turn into interceptions. We'll see what decision Tomlin makes but as of now I'd go with Hodges and hope that he has learned something from the loss. More importantly I hope that Fichtner comes up with a better game plan to help him out.

Everybody knew going into this game (and beyond) Hodges’ limitations, the mediocre play of the O Line and the lack of playmakers on the Offensive side of the football. We’re not even bringing up the horrendous play calling?
No offense but anyone pinning their playoff hopes on a Cinderella story 4th string undrafted QB that was pressed into action off the practice squad out of necessity? Is a flipping maroon!
But I hope Devlin Hodges succeeds, I really do.

What do you do? Plan for next season. ******* fire that horrifically offensive coordinator.

Hodges is the best option left in a season that is fubar.

Aside from discovering a road grading OL and a power running game that can blast through the entire defense stacked at the line...We are toast.

It is what it is.

2 of ducks ints were desperation throws. One was basically a punt on 3rd and forever and one at the end of the game while on the run. He did miss some easy reads though, but how many times have we said that about Ben? I still think duck is the better option at this point, but he has to be on a short leash. The Oline and playcalling need to really step it up. The game was going to ve a slug fest it was beyond stupid to throw as much as we did.

http://www.pass2win.com/devlin-hodges-qb.html Here is one that says his arm is above average, there are a dozen more that says its average....

Duck does not have a strong arm. When he steps into a throw it has good velocity and accuracy... which is why good technique is so important to qbs... his arm strength should improve as he matures and develops it, but he isn’t ever going to have a cannon.

Rudolph has a much stronger arm and quicker release but his fundamentals break down more so his throws sometimes look shaky and inaccurate...

Doesn´t matter who is under center as long as we don´t gameplan according to their skill set / abilitites. Where the **** is our running game? Run hard and play good defense used to be a very good recipe. We dressed how many RBs for the game? Five? Run, run, playaction.

This is the way. ;-)

so worst case his arm is average. To me ducks arm seems stronger than rudolph but with such poor mechanics it's hard to say.

So let’s see we tried a reindeer (Rudy) and a duck at QB..

Maybe we got this animal thingy all wrong...
And we should go after a snake!
That seems to have worked out well in the past..

We need a T-Tex or a Velociraptor. That'd negate a pass rush and open some holes real quick.

But we'd have coach complaining about his small hands, and the number of batted balls at the line of scrimmage would be a massive problem because of those short arms.

And think about the size of his head no way would he develop.

That's what the orangutan is for. Super long arms and ridiculously strong..haha
