So, the “Duck didn’t kill us” rationale ended last night and don’t even try to argue that he didn’t. 2 of his picks were in the end zone and one should have been 6 points for Buffalo were it not for Matt Feiler. He also fumbled and had many misssd reads. The D absolutely played well enough to win as long as we didn’t hand their team and offense more possessions.

I honestly don’t know which QB gives us a better shot at winning next week after last night. I am curious however to see how both bounce back from adversity and Rudolph has gone through a lot of it this year and now Duck has an embarrassing loss under his belt.

My preference would be to start Duck and yank him after pick one. That way Rudolph has the opportunity to be the “hero” and if neither do well, then we are no worse off...

I will partially disagree. Randy F. killed us just the same as he did with Mason in at QB. The man couldn't be more dysfunctional and blind as a play caller. There is no sense of strategy or scheme to attack the weakness. He sucks. Better coaching and play calling wins us that game yesterday.

Neither one is good enough to win a playoff game, but Duck has played a little better than Rudolph and can make some plays with his legs that Rudolph can't.

The bad news is Ben's long term successor isn't on this roster with no high picks to get someone with. I hope Ben will be back next year, but that's far from a sure thing

I would stick with Hodges. I mean, why not? We know what we have with Rudolph, and what we have with Hodges. Neither is going to win the game for you, so I guess it is all in who you trust more not to lose the game. Last night not withstanding, I think that person is Hodges.

Or you could try Paxton Lynch. Doesn't much matter at this point.

Yes Fichtner sucks and the game plan sucked, but he didn’t throw the ball right to Tre White twice or miss a wide open James Washington cutting into the end zone. He didn’t even look his way. Stared down Deon Cain with the 3 Bills DBs around him...

I agree with this. Fichtner should have been fired right after running that ridiculous wildcat play in the red zone. The guy just isn't very good play caller. Nay, he is terrible.

So Tomlin is great and coach of the year candidate, but he's not good enough to make adjustments on offense. The wildcat fumble fiasco, I believe that came after a time out or the 2 minute warning, meaning they talked about this on the sidelines, and Tomlin agreed or signed off on it.

There is only one possible choice, Paxton Lynch!

Duck made some horrible decisions with the football.
To be fair he is playing with c and d level skill players at every single position, add an overrated O-line and ****** playcalling, what do you expect?

What concerned me was that Duck's arm strength was definitely exposed last night. Even some of his longer completions were short and the WRs had to slow down and wait for them. Thats not good going forward. Teams will max cover short routes and dare him to beat them long. At this point I'd stay with him though. The oline has been pretty porous all year and Duck was running for his life half the game. Can't help but think Buffalo would have had 10 or more sacks if Rudolph would have been in there. Maybe its too late in the season to make these kind of major protection adjustments but IMO Fichtner needs to game plan more rollouts and Duck needs to start making some plays with his legs.

****** WR's had nothing to do with the beach balls he was throwing up for grabs. The two late INT's, he never gave the WR a chance, couldn't barely get it into the endzone, the almost pick 6, was a weak lob ball, if the has any arm strength and put it on a rope on the outside of the WR that's a first down.

Rudolph should be fully recovered from his concussion so go back to him. Duck did a nice job filling in for a few games but he's regressed, and defenses have figured him out. I don't think Duck gives us the best chance to win at this point. He had Washington wide open in his field of view last night streaking towards the end zone for the tying score and missed him, throws an end zone pick into double coverage instead. I think you really need to get a better look at Rudolph and not judge him by a couple of rough games right after a concussion. Unless Dionte Johnson is going to return a punt or two for a TD like the Arizona game, winning with Duck is going to be difficult.

Um, he's a 4th string, undrafted rookie, you do realize that don't you? And he's the best they have, so there's that as well.

The OC didn't do much to help him. The offense was moving better with Conner in and don't understand why he wasn't in for more plays.

I can't complain with this season, considering the above.

Playcalling was bad, but Duck missed so many throws and ignored Vanette open underneath and in the middle of the field repeatedly.

Duck plays. I dont get it. Since he is a back-up, he has to never have a bad game or he gets benched? Can any player live up to that standard?

top caliber QBs lay eggs at least a couple times per year, let alone what average NFL QBs do a couple times per year.

People have unrealistic expectations as to how easy/hard it is to play at this level.

Bottom line is that we were NEVER down by enough points to merit throwing the ball 38 times. BUF never came close to stopping Conner when he ran the ball

Ignoring the open TE thing is something that coaches can correct in practice this week. I wish I knew when the league turned into a league in which a QB must make every correct read in his 4th career start.

There were at least a couple of times it was obvious there was an overload blitz or however it's called and there were no adjustments made to pick it up. Instant pressure in less than 2 seconds

Think we missed McDonald out there as a blocker last night.

He had to assign the rb or motion the other side TE to protect the overload. At least the vets on the Oline should have alert him of the alignment for him to adjust accordingly

Nah, I don’t buy this not having the best skill players around him.It simply falls on the QB play which was horrible and the OL poor play.
Duck simply is not and will never be good starting QB in this league or even a backup. Personally think he will not be on an NFL roster next year.
Mason on the other hand I think will improve enough to be a capable back up to Ben next year. Ben’s successor is not on this roster.

He did try to force somethings that were there. It seemed at times the game was too big for him.

Stick with Hodges. Tomlin/Finchtner asked Hodges to do too much by throwing 70+% of the time against a good pass rush that the o-line was struggling with.
