Dri Archer is a Jet

I heard the Steelers made him an offer, but it was too little, too late.

Actually, Steelers wanted to sign him back to the PS after he cleared waivers. He declined. Was out of football all last year. Had he accepted, he probably would have been given another chance, after Martavis suspension ended.

Kordell as slash was solid. They knew they had a athlete with him. So I could understand him being around a little longer as he made plays catching, running, etc.

A team has money invested in these picks, they want to try to get a return on their investment.

Obviously with Archer they came up short.

I am sure many teams hold onto players longer than fans would like.

You are fooling yourself if you think its just the Steelers..........
No pun intended???

How was he better than Wheaton? Wheaton's train wreck game was all on punt returns. Archer returned one punt, two years ago for 2 yards...If you're going to compare players performance, at least use performances they both did.

Having no one back there on PRs would've been better than Wheaton, every return was an oh **** he's going backwards or going to turn the ball over. Seriously, punt block every time would've been a better decision. I like Wheaton as a WR but he is not a PR.

No, not at all. Obviously, I was referring to Kordell, as a QB, not as a slash. My point was we held onto him as a QB longer than any other team would. I think denying that is fruitless. If they kept him as a slash, it would have made total sense. But that is not what they did. They caved into letting him be a full time QB while the rest of the NFL would and did not. It's not like he was old by the time all other NFL teams figured out he stunk as a QB.

His stay with the Jets will be short lived.

Wheaton has been solid on KR duty. Mostly just doody on PR duty.

Insaniti, I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong in an argument (guess I had a temporary moment of insanity). Archer's PR skills or lack therof are what they are, completely unproven to be successful. I guess my point is that Wheaton shouldn't have been back there time and time again the way he was looking... There is no history to point to Archer being a better option in that role.

I do believe punt block with no returner would've been as successful tho, Wheaton just looked like crap in that game and was grasping at straws as to why we kept putting him out there. Archer was a better option than Jacoby tho, that is a whole other can of worms (referring to KR game). I am surprised Boykin was never given a shot at return duties. As a GA Bulldog fan he seemed to flash good return skills in both kick and punt returns. But then again it took quite a while before he even sniffed the field, yet another can of worms there. But again as to the Archer returning punts there is no historic evidence to show he would've helped either, my bad.

Yea, but a year later than any other team would. The Steelers have a real issue with admitting bad decisions. After they finally cut Kordell, he lasted as a Bears' starter for mere weeks, and then as a Raven, they were signing dudes off their couches before letting Kordell play a single down. That is ow much the rest of the NFL knew he stunk, but the Steelers stuck with him for how long?

Our front office does make bad decisions at times. Stewart had a few ok seasons though. The guy would have been a damn good WR
