Can’t believe I’m even thinking about this now. Anyone know what position we draft now?

In hindsight, wish we never made playoffs.

2018 NFL Draft Order: Pittsburgh Steelers will select 28th overall

The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially onto the NFL Draft...

Just like that, the Pittsburgh Steelers go from potential Super Bowl contenders, to the 2018 NFL Draft.

As shocking as the team’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was in every possible way, the thought of turning our attention to the Draft might be even more disturbing. The season wasn’t supposed to end this way. Not for late owner Dan Rooney, and certainly not for injured linebacker Ryan Shazier, yet here we are.

With the Steelers officially out of the playoffs, they have solidified their spot in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh will select 28th overall in the first round of the college selection process.

Drafting in the back half of the first round is not new for the Steelers, as they are annually contenders who make the playoffs, but when it comes to team needs, the debate is already raging.

According to NFL.com, the Steelers Top 3 needs in this year’s draft are the following positions: ILB, QB, S

Hard to argue with those positions, in no particular order, but what do you think the top needs of the Steelers are entering the draft?

I would actually say our top 3 needs are ILB, S, DL. Unless I'm missing something we have a top 5 QB coming back for another season and a serviceable back up.

The only position on offense I draft might be TE, everything else is defense.

You don't think it's at all important to find a future replacement with at least some promise to groom when Ben could retire at any given time. Turning the reigns over to Landry Jones when Ben retires would be akin to turning the reigns of your franchise over to Kent Graham. I think it's gotta be a huge priority at this point.

We aren't going to find a replacement for Ben where we'll be picking. No way in hell am I drafting QBs in the top 3 rounds in back to back seasons when we have massive holes to fill on defense.

Yea that's my thoughts. Just don't think it's something we need to reach for at this point. Landry isn't taking over for Ben that's for sure but he is a serviceable back up to fill in for a couple games.

Dobbs was a 5th Rounder if I'm not mistaken. That isn't exactly high priority drafting. If you don't think we can find a good QB at pick # 28 what the heck do you expect from one taken in bottom of the 5th round?

Not really. If Tomlin is still the head coach he'll just be getting a head start on ruining the career of our next potential franchise QB. I say go with Landry Jones until Tomlin leaves or is fired. Makes as much sense as anything else the front office has been doing.

You people...... Yeah let's ******* tank every season until I get my way and they fire Tomlin. Brilliant!

Your irrational hate is getting in the way of your good sense. You aren't alone either.

All you guys need to get it through your thick skulls. It ain't happening. If Tomlin wants to coach another 10 years here, then he coaches another 10 years.

God I wish Ben would quit so Tomlin could finally demonstrate his extraordinary coaching skills. We have Landry. The future is set at QB. We don't need Bell, we have the greatest coach in the universe to come up with a motivational plan for Conners.

Draft for defense, Trade Bryant,Brown and Ju Ju for a TE and watch Landry go to WORK baby.

Tomlin for 7!

I'm actually fine with McDonald at TE. Yes he has a couple drops but he's much more of a threat than James. If a playmaker TE drops you take him but I think offense for the most part can be ignored except maybe RB if you think Bell might leave. A later round WR might be a good pick too with Bryant's future uncertain.

Other than that, D all the way. At 28 you pick the best safety or ILB prospect available. Only way I wouldn't is if one of the top 4 QBs slide to late 1st ala Aaron Rodgers. Otherwise QB can be ignored.

There are 5 QB's projected to go in the 1st round. The Steelers would at least be tempted if they like 1 of the 5 and he is
still there at #28.
