Do you make this trade?

Slash hit it best when he stated there is improvement from year to year. The Steelers did try to develop Landry, and tried getting draft capital for him when Dobbs beat him out in the preseason. That's what you want to ultimately do. Eagles and Pats do it. Develop a QB, until it's time to start him, or trade him for draft capital. Steelers tried to move Landry, no one wanted him. Dobbs got moved for a 5th, and that pick was packaged in the Minkah trade.

I do see that Rudolph had some bad games, but he had some good ones also, and won 5, which is more than any other backup we've had since Ben became the starter.

Landry was 3-2
Duck 3-3
Vick 2 -1
Dixon 2-1
Batch was 6-3 (in 8 years)
Lefty 0-1

So right now Rudolph is comparable to Batch, and he's only been on the team for 2 seasons. I didn't say he's the next Ben, but he's progressing from year to year, and I expect a big jump this season. Dobbs did the same, progressed in 2 years to force Landry off of the roster, then lost out to Rudolph (and Duck) last year, and the Steelers net a pick.

All good points Cope but the single one thing that is going to help all the backs up and BEN is the hiring of CANADA. I'm NOT saying he is the ALLMIGHTY savior but I feel he will make a significant contribution to better QB play and...... A slight rise in OC play as well. I started out thinking Fitchner was going to be all right but I just don't see much out of him in terms of X & O / creativity / helping the player on the field. Him being a personal friend of Coach Tomlin doesn't help as I wonder how far the friendship is carrying Fitchner. Just maybe CANADA will impress to much to keep Randy. As for Ben's buddy, if CANADA overtakes Randy BEN will see it and ad hear to the situation.

GOOD LUCK to our STEELER'S team for all those worthy of being on the roster / staff need to carry their weight and contribute.

Bradshaw didn't exactly light it up from the get go either.

Just my opinion, but I don't see Rosen being the answer.

A bit different playing football in 2020 than it was in 1970.

Rosen isn't the answer but he's probably better than Paxton Lynch.

Let's not forget that Charlie Batch was a 2nd rounder himself, so there were some expectations for him as a prospect once. It's not easy to get a franchise QB, if we can get a game manager out of Rudolph together with this defense and the team could still be a very dangerous one, they just need to have success in the RB department to make it work, even if not as a long term solution at least as a bridge towards the new franchise QB or even as trade capital for a draft pick.
