By G.Stryker SteelerNation.com The Pittsburgh Steelers may be losing both of their top tight ends to free agency this year. Nick Vannett is an unrestricted free agent, while Vance McDonald is in an option year where the Steelers can keep him at his $7.1275M cap hit, or let him go and gain $5.6725M in cap […]

I think we need a little bit more at TE than what we have on the roster. If we draft, the candidate has to be a day one starter (if current both TE released). Of course it all depends on draft position.

let vance go keep vannett on a cheap 2 yr deaal and draft the Mizz te and lets see if Mcgee can push for a roster spot.

Christian scott-williamson is our secret weapon. Hiding in plain sight.

I hope so, we need someone to step up and a passing threat out of themselves.

Van nett with BEN throwing may be made better as well.

No. This is our biggest area of need on offense.

If CSW has decent speedd, can run routes and catch the ball, he should be on the team and not the PS.. Blocking for TE's in this day and age is more a nice to have and is something that can be learned/improved.

Tight end is the least talented position on offense, but not the biggest need. I'd rank immediate upgrades at LG/RT and a stud WR all over tight end. A long-term answer at QB is higher on my list as well.

Trading for Vanett was a terrible move. He is surely one of many TEs available in FA. I dont see any reason to sign him any more than another. You can let Macdonald walk and sign a guy for cheaper I guess. Why Vanett. Cause he was on the roster last year and didn't play with Ben?

What about the big-*** guy on the roster? He saw a couple games and I think he made a few catches. Nothing spectacular, but he's big as ****. Can't remember his name. New Guy.

As long as Ben comes back and plays to the level where he left off, you are correct.

He's an international professional rugby player who has spent the past 3 years learning how to play football. It's either this year he makes the roster, or he's gone.

I personally felt he was on track to being on the roster this year, before getting injured in the first preseason game. He was already ahead of Gentry and Rader on the depth chart at the time.
