Mr. Enberg was a really good class guy and my sympathy and condolences to his family. Called a lot of Steeler games back in the day for NBC with Merlin Olson. Although, I always said the 2005 Steelers Colts Playoff Game on CBS with Dan Dierdorf was the single greatest game call I've ever heard.

Maybe it's just the "good old days" mentality, but no broadcast team has come close to the quality that Enberg and Olson put out.

No one ever hit the mute button when he was on the air. R.I.P. Mr. Enberg.

Loved listening to Enberg broadcast. Doesn't matter if it was Wimbledon, baseball or football, the guy delivered a smooth experience for us watching. We really did have a golden era of broadcasters out here in SoCal with Chick Hearn, Bob Miller, Vin Scully, Dick Enberg and don't forget Keith Jackson either.

I always felt like the Steelers did well when he did the games. Will always remember the afc championship vs the colts.

Prayers his way and to his family. VERY CLASS !!!!!!!

Salute the nation

When football was still football.

NFL was the first major sport that I watched and Enberg was the first big-time announcer that I loved hearing broadcast games.

best play by play guy in the business. RIP.

He was a great, positive presence without getting in the way...a lost art. He was a lot like Vin Skully in that you felt like he was watching and talking about the game with you personally and shared your enthusiasm. Conversational and sincere.

R.I.P. Mr. Enberg. A class act and true professional.

I'll never forget the Super Bowl 30 mini controversy he created in Texas(I was living there at the time) because of the perception that he was biased.

He got excited during I think the drive before O'donnell threw the pick. I'll never forget his words after Steeler receivers kept coming up with big catches while taking punishing hits from the Cowboy DB's, after a great catch from Hastings he blurted out :

" There's something magical about that number 88 in black and gold!"

Apparantly some Texas sports writers weren't just happy with the win, they were crying over Enberg getting excited about what was happening with the Steeler comeback. He was just enjoying the moment.

I can hear his voice saying those words like if it was 5 minutes ago that I heard them.
