From other thread, I saw a comment comparing Devin Bush in coverage to Larry Foote.
1. Foote was criminally under appreciated. While he was overshadowed by 3 stars he played with, man did his role & played smart.
2. There seems to be this narrative that Devin Bush is great against the run and making tackles but a liability vs. the pass. Right now there’s probably some truth to that. However, Ryan Shazier did not jump out of the gate as a great coverage LB either & many were quick to criticize the pick (and how should have taken CJ Mosely). Bush has the attitude and ability to improve his technique as he gets more experience.
3. Bush has already demonstrated the ability to make splash plays and is amazing athlete. I would wager anyone on this board that when Dupree leaves via free agency next year that Bush will be featured a lot more on the pass rush as well.
4. Speaking of Dupree: I repeatedly said for the first three years of his career that he was always in the area of making plays but was out-of-control. Once he adapted, and the game slowed down for him, he began converting those efforts into results. Next time you feel that urge to write off Bush—remember similarities & Dupree.
