wild that the coaching staff, in all their glorious self-congratulatory intellect, could not figure out how to use a 6-4, 290 lb dude.
It would be nice if our coaches could develop these guys. But have any of them gone on to other teams and been developed?Just a numbers game and he is a tweener behind a lot of other guys who have shown better.
He really needed to be able to show as a DE over the last few years with the lack of depth on the DL, but he couldn’t. They tried him at LB and he’s way behind guys like Herbig, Sawyer and Harrison there.
He’ll likely stay in the area as an emergency option if the injury bug strikes again.
But to your point, wouldn’t it be fantastic if we had a coaching staff that could coach guys up and help them reach their potential?
The only position that seems to happen with is O Line going back a few years but wee have improved there with Khan. Beachum and Dotson being the two.It would be nice if our coaches could develop these guys. But have any of them gone on to other teams and been developed?
Or quit drafting these tweeters. But to your point, wouldn’t it be fantastic if we had a coaching staff that could coach guys up and help them reach their potential?
The only comfort left is that they didn't waste a 2nd round pick, he was projected all over in that draft, from early 2nd or even late 1st at some point to early 4th
THIS ^^^ same story every time.Or quit drafting these tweeters.
Super annoyingTHIS ^^^ same story every time.

The facts:
He didn't look good in black and gold.
He was never used properly.
He was never one of Tomlins pet favorites.
When it comes to drafting players, Tomlin’s philosophy always bugs me. He prioritizes trying to draft steals instead of solid players with heart. He also puts way too much stock in draft position, instead of allowing true competition.
I do feel that Weddle has been a good moderating influence on the Drafts. I also believe this is because Weddle is someone who can distinguish between a solid player with heart and a media crowned darling.
One thing I do know is that Ward NEVER would have been drafted by Tomlin, let alone been given the chance early.
Tomlin is the epitome of an individual who will go out and buy a one year old Lexus, because he can get it for $20 grand. It’s $20 grand because it has a blown head gasket and destroyed the engine. Instead of investing in the required engine swap, he immediately buys a brand new set of shinny 22’s to impress his people.
