Defense came to play today

This. Dupree pushed the tackle deep into the backfield and forced the play back inside, which is a significant part of "sealing the edge." I agree that Dupress was a bit too deep when he did so, however. But the reason why we want that OLB to seal the edge and force running backs inside is that the pursuit should be there to wallop him.

Neither ILB was there, no S, so he had room to scamper.

Watt is already looking in the backfield while engaged and he's only 4 games old. Dupree needs to do the same. With his size advantage, he can always shed and tackle paired with his vision.

Was it me or were we blitzing on almost every play? It looked ultra-aggressive (though I missed the first quarter).

We don't blitz much at all. See: twitter.com/NFLMatchup

We blitz 18.1% of the time, 5th least.

You might be reacting to the way we've been defending the run...it looks like blitzing because Shazier knifes through the line very aggressively when trying to defend outside runs.

Thanks - maybe it was just in the 4th quarter when we knew that they had to pass..? Or maybe the stunts etc just made it look that way. However they're doing it it's nice to be getting to the QB.

We will get a better idea of how good this defense is during the next several weeks. Hopefully they can stop those long runs from happening
