Deadline for Steelers to extend linemen Beachum, Foster approaching

There's still time left for the Steelers and the starting left side of their offensive line — tackle Kelvin Beachum and guard Ramon Foster — to come to terms on contract extensions, but that time is quickly dissipating.

The Steelers have a long-standing policy of not negotiating contracts during the season, meaning there is a little more than 24 hours to work something out with Beachum and/or Foster before Thursday's season opener against the Patriots.

Even though the Steelers have created more than $9 million in cap space over the past week with restructures and sit $14 million under the cap, according to the NFLPA, it doesn't look promising that Beachum or Foster will get a deal done

“Talk to Mr. Colbert,” Beachum repeated, in reference to the Steelers GM, three times to three questions posed to him about his contract.

The Steelers do not comment on contract situations, and Beachum's agent, Roosevelt Barnes, did not return a message.

“Talk to him,” Beachum said of Colbert. “He makes the decisions here. I just play football.”

Get it done. We don't need to be experimenting with turnstiles at left tackle towards the end of Ben's career. Anyone know what kind of money Beachum is asking?

We will lose him in free agency. Get him signed

Beachum is a must sign IMHO. He's way better than Gilbert, and Gilbert got a contract. Foster is the odd man out. You can't pay everyone on the OL, and the plus side is Guards fall in the draft. Especially good ones. Lock up Beach, and draft a replacement for Foster and pick up a FA G on the cheap. The steeler way...

All depends on Beachums contract demands. If he is looking for Tyron Smith money HELL NO. If he is looking for Sam Baker or Dunlap money ok we can do that.

He could be franchise tagged for a year.

I was against the Mitchell and C. Allen deals. But Beachum is a different story. He's a consistent player and should be paid a bit more than Gilbert.

Allen? When he signed it seemed like a decent deal.

Within reason I sign both Beachum and De Castro now. I'm not overpaying for Beachum though but I think they could resign him for a contract that would be fair to both sides. De Castro is a must have so they better get him locked up even though he has another year left. Foster s just ok and can be replaced so he's odd man out.

you tag him and you'll pay him like a top 5 LT, that's a load of money for a good LT, not an elite one

Remember this is the same brain trust that tagged Worilds 2 years ago and gave Gilbert and Allen big contracts. I wouldn't be shocked at all if they tag Beachum.

Writing is on the wall for Beachum it seems, why don't ya help us grab number 7 before we say adios...he will test the market and win a contract from someone else (hope I'm wrong).

We should let Foster test the market and not overpay, so he'll get a 5 year 35 million deal from us as Beachum walks. Is 7 million a year enough Mr. Foster or would you like us to open the wallet wider cause we love to overpay for average talent.

man I kinda thought they would have gotten something done with Beachum. I am not a cap guru like some but overthetop.com has the Steelers at 6 mill under. They usually keep a couple million for emergencies. what to do with the extra 4 million?

Just because he wasn't extended , doesn't mean he won't be wearing a Steelers uniform come next year.

There is options to keep him in Black N Gold ..............
