Major differences between Johnson and Bell:

1. Johnson missed 15 games due to injury last year, which unless I'm mistaken means he has missed more games in three years than Bell has in five;
2. Johnson is getting his guaranteed money a year early, therefore there's a discount factor for that;
3. It's only a three year deal, meaning he has the opportunity for another big money contract whilst in his prime;
4. The fact it is only three years means the average doesn't need to take account of expected inflation for years 4 and 5;
5. As a result of missing virtually all of 2017, Johnson only has effectively two years of production on his resume compared to Bell's 5.

I’d be much more willing to throw a huge long term contract at an elite RB when he is as young as Johnson, and on a team without an expensive franchise QB. And he still didn’t get as much as Le’Veon was offered by the Steelers

I expect that the situation with bell directly influenced the size of the contracts for Gurley and Johnson. Bell stated his original intention was to reset the RB market. Seems to have worked.

Johnson avg 4.2 ypc his last full season. Avg a whopping 2.1, after being in camp all preseason, before being hurt and out for the season.

You have to consider the teams. AZ was a pretty crappy team with basically no QB. Bell is on ac team loaded with offensive talent.

I am thinking he now wants to reset it...again......anything less than $20 mill a year for Bell next year is a slap in the face to him.

Always something, huh?

The thinking is that the rest of your team sucks, tie up a lot of $ at a RB coming off of a season injury, while the rest of the ****** teams continues to suck. Instead of spreading that money around so the rest of the team doesn't suck. Excellent plan.

Old as dirt Peterson and Kerwynn William (who?) Was within 0.5 yards of that on the same team.
