Damoun Patterson Man on a Mission

ABSOLUTELY rooting for this guy. It's not just his back-story but his ability that makes him very root able. An expert friend of mine put out a very favorable review of him and his pass catching abilities. On a team loaded with WR talent he would make this team better just by being a depth player. His ST contributions may help as well. I hope he makes it as he is on the narrow line.

Who doesn't love a undrafted story, anything on top of that is icing on the cake.

Imagine if this team were only half as good at finding LB's as they are WR's.

If he makes the team it’s going to have to be on special teams. AB, JuJu and Washington are locks. DHB and Hunter have better than average shots. So that’s theoretically one spot left. And don’t forget about Eli Rodgers whom should be ready to go in October or November. If he continues to play well and shows special teams abilities it pushes DHB who is only a special team player and Hunter who is not a special team player.

That's a pretty fair assessment Ford.

Though Hunter is still the #1 Z receiver, he and Washington are very close, and since both are playing the slot as well, both will make the team.

The 5 & 6th receiver will be between Patterson, Tucker, and DHB. Right now Patterson has the inside track and ability for one of those slots.

Tucker and DHB are fighting for that last spot. Normally Tucker is a shoe in, but they're throwing everyone in the slot now with Samuels, Hunter, Washington, Connors, TEs. He may get squeezed out (especially since they have Eli as an emergency option down the road.

DHB has the speed, position flexibility, and ST prowess, but he lacks the hands and reliability to catch the football. Tucker showed he can tackle and pin the ball at the one as the punt team gunner, so DHB may be losing his ST snaps to younger players. It may be a money move as well, since the Steelers would save $1M if they cut him.
