Could Browns Contend in 2018?

Sounds far fetched, but Jags going from 3 wins to AFC Champ game was a bit far fetched.
Just a few moves improves them greatly: Get Cousins or Alex Smith as QB, Draft Barkley 1
and Minkah Kirkpatrick #4, get Joe Thomas back

That would still leave them with 3 second round picks and a whole lot of cap space to spend in free agency.
With Barkley they would have the best group of RB's in the league. Fix the WR problem and they would
have a top ten offense.

Wouldn't surprise me if they finish second in the division next year.

Maybe not a surprise to finish second place in the division but also just as big as a not surprise would be near the bottom of the league and 3rd in the division.

For as hard as they played, it amazes me that they went 0-16. A few more pieces and they could easily win 5-6 games next year. I don't see going 1-31 over the last two years to "contender" possible though because there's a culture of losing that will need to be rooted out first.

A goal of 5-11, and getting 2-3 key players in 2018 should be their goal.

If they get a bit of luck on a QB picked #1 overall (turns out to be Wentz, Goff, Watson good) and then get Barkley with the #4 overall pick, I think they could make a pretty big jump if they are coached well (which I don't think they are).

I think there is talent on that roster but it is young and immature and lacks focus to details. They also don't know how to win or have confidence in winning.

You never know. They get a few wins early, the new QB looks like the real deal and they can lean on Barkley and he's the stud I suspect he will be, who knows....

Yep. In the NFL, it's very difficult to be so far away that a few key acquisitions at key positions can't turn the whole ship around. The Browns have talent on defense, and a few talented players on the offense too. They're not nearly as far away as 0-16 would suggest. Confidence and a great QB+RB tandem could hypothetically carry them a long way

They are considering hiring Ben McAdoo as their new OC. He was awful with the Giants. In Cleveland everyone is worse.....they could be the first NFL Franchise to go 0-16 in back to back seasons!
