Could Bell and Connor Both Play?

There’s no way I give Bell snaps over Conner at this point. I start Conner and give Bell Ridleys snaps and make him earn more.

That’s probably what LevBell would like. Limited use, less touches and fresh legs just in time to hit F/A. Tomcat will most likely stick him right in to the lineup.Of course depends also what kind of shape he reports.

What are you thinking we would get from the Bills? A third round pick? I’d like their second round pick but their third wouldn’t be too bad since it would be early third.

i-simply-dont-give-a-fuck_o_1989083.webp

the ****** chose to **** on his teammates, the ones who put his *** in a position to crawl up on his cross and decide to reset the pay scale for RBs at the expense of the veterans wanting to win and possibly get a ring before their careers are over. As such, I simply couldnt give a ****. I'd take a 3rd and push for a second. I want to trade his petulant *** to Buffalo so he doesn't even get a 25-mile downwind sniff of success for the remainder of his football career.

I think it's important to note that within 5 games, (3 of them playing from behind most the time) James Conner has destroyed LeVeon Bell's longest run from scrimmage in the last 2 years. Bell is extraordinarily shifty, he can often get a yard or two out of nothing. He does indeed average around 4 yards per carry over a season. But he will never be a breakaway back. He lacks the speed to outrun linebackers, much less safeties and corners. If Bell breaks a 20 yard run, that's a HUGE day for him. I'm not being a Bell hater, I'm just giving you the facts. He's "football slow".

As a true receiver, as mentioned, he would probably suffer. Coming out of the backfield that elusivity he has is a huge advantage. He can catch a 4 yard dump-off and make a guy or two miss. He can easily turn that into 7 to 10 yards on the regular. (He cannot turn it into 20 or 30 yards on the regular, he's too slow.) I don't know how I would use Bell when he returns, but I do know I wouldn't **** on the guy who came to camp and has busted his *** throughout the holdout. That isn't how loyalty works.

Yes, it's a business and all that, but I just can't believe Bell will be tremendously effective. He has 3 scenarios.

1) He wants to protect his body for next season and the big payday so he plays weak with a focus on protecting himself.
2) Worse, he gets "injured" almost immediately after returning and for one reason or another, he won't be able to be available on game-days.
3) Because he's determined to elevate his earning potential next year, he will press too hard to be exceptional, rather than letting the game come to him. This will either result in infectivity or actual injury.

Can they play together, yes. Will they, no

Didn't Philly burn a bridge with McCoy?, not sure he would want to go back there. If Indy would use the transition tag on Bell, they would make a lot of sense
to trade for him. if you want to try for a Championship in Luck's prime.

Chip Kelly dumped him and most of the vets to create his uptempo **** show. I'm sure ownership didn't reach out to Shady after that.

James Conner has destroyed LeVeon Bell's longest run from scrimmage in the last 2 years.

Uhh, you sure about that? ESPN tells me that Connor's longest run is 30 yards.

Maybe, you are talking about receptions, but that is only 29 yards.

In general, Connor is on pace to have more 20+ yard runs, but his average is the same. Which means, that he is more likely to have a run stuffed or cut short, right?

Bell, over the prior 2 seasons had 24%-26% of his runs result in first downs. Connor, at this point is at just under 20%.

What I'd like to see, for each RB, is a stat (official, not PFF) showing the number of carries for which they were tackled for a loss, gained 1-3 yards, 4-6 yards, 5-7, 7-10, 10-15, 20-30, 40+. I don't know that this would tell us anything, but I think it would be interesting to see.

Swtizer would disagree, but I do agree, I'd love to see Conner and Bell together on the field. Wow!

There would be nothing magical about it. Seriously. It would probably be less effective than their normal sets.

I'd agree if we still had Haley. Fichner has already shown he can vary personnel to create mismatches.

Cope have you noticed the red zone efficiency has become better? or did I read that here lol.

I read so much Steelers wise it can get confusing. But it has increased under a small body of work.

I hope that continues going forward...

All i care about it the steelers winning. Bell is better than Conner. He's a much better blocker and receiver. As soon as he's in shape and ready, i give him the majority of snaps.

I think they wanted to split carries last year but Conner was so poor as a blocker that they couldn't really play him that much. If conner was in, it tipped that the steelers were running. He's at least become adequate as a blocker so now he can split reps without tipping their hand.

I'm thinking at least 60/40 Bell and increase it as needed.

Until he's there and in football shape I don't spend a single second even thinking about the what if's.

Bell has to show up first for anything to happen. The talk is he's back in the building Monday, work out the bye week and game ready the following?
Mmkay, why do that? Bell's agent who has advised him poorly so far will likely tell 'ol "wake 'n bake" to hold out until after the trade deadline so that the Steelers can't trade MeVeon to a team he doesn't want to play for.
Sure looks like a roll of the dice any way it all plays out. At this point it appears Bell has everything to lose though.

They should have payed bell the $ he's worth and keep the 3 b's doin their thing...we'd be better then 3-2-1 keep the harmony of the team 2gether means alot...they payed benny... they payed ab...pay bell!!!

tee-dle dum

Focus in and listen.

The Steelers offered him top RB money. By far.for what he is "worth".

Even if he plays two years on the tag that is a real nice nest egg.

Harmony is just fine now without Bell.

Unless Bell can play CB, **** him.

Harmony is promoted first from the head coach and transcends down to his football team. This football team with Bell was not going to any super bowl. They are poorly coached, generally unprepared, not as focused as they need to be, undisciplined, employ defensive schemes that are putting players in bad positions, and that is why they cannot go to the next level. Bell is a non factor whether he stays away or would have been here. We’ve won nothing with him for five seasons.

Much agreed steelhurt!..we're on the same page the steelers are no where near a superbowl contending team!..they'll be lucky to make the playoffs bell no bell it don't matter!...the steelers ownership is confused their coaching staff sucks benny's gettin old and yes...no harmony!...we can analyze all day long but at the end of it black and gold is an 8-8 team right now if bossman can make an extra pt!

Go troll somewhere else.. You suck at it.

I think you have to have a set with both Bell and Connor in it. Use it to create mismatches. Have Bell, Connor, Brown, Juju, and Mcdonald/James out there. Spread them five wide. Bring them back to a tight set with Connor at FB. Make the defense choose whether you run or pass based off of their personnel. If they run a base formation, pass the ball... If they run nickel or dime, hammer them with the run. My two cents. Seems like something the Cheatriots would do.
