Common themes from the final four teams.

No Cinderella stories, here, I believe these are the best four teams in the NFL. What are the biggest reasons why they are here?

1 ) Each team has a very good to great QB.

2 ) Each team has a top head coach

3 ) Each team is on the + side of turnovers:

Rams +11
Patirots +10
Cheifs +9
Saints + 8

4 ) Each team has limited off their field drama.

When I look at the Steelers, we have as much talent as they do, more if you go by the number of players given an invitation to play in the pro bowl.

We aren't here because Mike Tomlin isn't a good head coach, our defense isn't very good at producing turnovers, and we have too much drama. We are 1/4 on key ingredients. Talent can only take you so far.

Coach, in a simplistic explaination, I agree with you on a lot of this. I'm not saying any coach would take this team to #7 but a disciplinarian type, respected "D" minded, ON HANDS with average in-game adjustments would have gotten us in the playoffs and this group's talent would have done the rest.

Get rid of the drama by getting rid of the stigma / lackadazical / non-authoritive coaching style. ALSO the likes of BELL, whom I think is gone for good (but one never knows) and the likes of AB whom both have shown to be MEmeMemE personalities/players need to be gone totally. FIRE them RIGHT in fron of the entire team as an example needs to be made of how this "locker room" culture works.

As for the take away / turn over battle........well a respected "D" minded coach would turn that around easily.

I agree, if Tomlin isn't firm enough to things in house, I agree get rid of the drama players. I was 100% for trading Bell if he was willing to sign his tag amount. Now I'm glad he's out. Conner is just as good, and Samuels adds an even speedier dimension to the passing offense. Plus we get back 14.5 million in cap space, making it possible to trade AB, who is very tradable.

Our glaring lack of turnovers is pretty telling.

I wonder how many teams with that huge of a deficit ever had a winning record let alone made the playoffs.

They all use 3-4 actual Dlinenmen to rush the QB on passing downs, none of this 2 Dlinemen ****

.... That turnover differential has to change if the Steelers plan on getting where we want them to go.

From an on field perspective the lack of turnovers was definitely the telling stat. A couple of observations would be an inability to make a play on the ball in the air. Safeties who who in my mind should be the team leaders in Int playing so far back that they literally dont have a chance. I'd say the most frustrating aspect is when a ball ends up on the ground this team has no desire to get it. Watt actually knocked a few out but no hunger from anyone else to get it. The worst being moments that were probably incomplete passes, but COULD have been fumbled, players stood there with me screaming at the TV "pick up the ****** ball!"

I wouldn't say Goff is top 5 Qb. not yet anyway

He is leaning that way. This could be the year he breaks into that thought process.

Steelers recovered 7 fumbles this year. T.J. Watt had 6 forced fumbles by himself, team total was 15. No one else had more than 2.

Each team runs the ball. No. 3, 5, 6, and 16 rushing offenses in the league. The Steelers were No. 31.

Each team made over 80 percent of their field goal attempts. The Steelers were under 70 percent.

I know of one that had the wining record but never made the playoffs

See my above staement and your reasoning is the "part" answer as to why.

He also blocked a kick or two.
So basically the defense consisted of Watt, Heyward, and Haden with a little help from Tuitt, and not much else.

Our ability to make sure a turnover was particularly critical seemed unmatched, too.

Two of those teams have QBs they dont have to pay for, yet, right? Still on rookie contracts?

*'s. Cheaters. Nothing else.

Big playmakers on the Rams. Goff, #1 overall. Gurley, #10 overall. Donald, #13 overall. 3 straight drafts. Sure, CLE could have (and has ****** up higher draft picks), but they got some pretty big pieces of their team earlier in the draft than we have been.

Top head coach? Bs.

Reid is a constant **** up. Constant. You think we butch about clock management, Ried invented ******* the up. And how about we see what the rams coach can do over a period of time. For **** sake his “entire” team is made up of almost top 15 1st round draft picks. Folks here be saying “that’s fishers team”

That was a perennial 7-9 team until McVay got there. Probably would still be in the middle of the pack with Fisher.

5) None of the four is coached by Mike Tomlin.

6) None of the teams has been in my kitchen.

Nobody would say that because Fisher never won with them. Nobody would say it about any team that hadn't won ****.

He overachieved with Alex Smith and was stuck with McNabb. I think he’s s good coach.
