so 1-3 Atlanta comes to town Sunday...

The offense SHOULD be able to move the ball either on the ground or through the air.

The defense if they will show up and put some pressure on Ryan, they should be able to disrupt his timing and contain their passing game

Limit penalties and turnovers and this should be a victory

Atlanta will light up our D. We have no one to cover Jones and their receiving core and they have a good RB. If our O doesn't put up 40, we have no chance once again.

Well they have a ****** D too, so we have a chance !

RELAX, just because we're losing the next two games to Atl and Cincy, till Bell comes back, is no reason to panic

:uglyhammer:

Matty Ice to be elevated to "elite" status?

This should be a shootout between Ben and Ryan with the last man standing the winner.
Ben has to match TD to TD pure and simple. Should be a high scoring game with plenty of fireworks.
Both defenses flat out stink with the Falcons defensive backfield decimated by injuries.
I’ll be there traveling from Houston on Friday so should be lots of scoring.

Well duh!

I've been saying THAT for 2 years now, but the yinzers still insist the Steelers defense is the greatest in the world!

Why, they're only a player away from the Steel Curtain! hahahahah

In fact, if we just hand off to the FB every other down and do away with that new fangled forward pass, no team can stop us! hahahaha

Meanwhile, The Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated and have the worst defense in the league and the Falcons offense is pretty close to them

KC Offense. ATL Offense

410 yards 8th. 410 yards 7th

297 pass 9th. 314 pass 6th

113 rush 14th. 96 rush 21st

36 points 1st. 29 points 6th

KC Defense. ATL Defense

451 yards 32nd. 403 yards 28th

330 pass 31st. 284 pass 25th

125 rush 28th. 119 rush 25th

28 PPG 25th. 30 PPG 30th

It is what it is

What's this I hear Ben and AB are not on speaking terms?

whaaaa???????

It's October and this is when the Steelers start playing football.

It has a lot to do with coaching. Their offenses are playing to their strengths and, my guess, not making critical penalties to kill drives like we do at least 2 or 3 times in every game.

just blitz the whole ******* game.

lol

have you seen our defense? they are puffing and blowing after one qtr of trying to rush the passer, and totally out of gas after the 3rd qtr

We can at least get them for 2 quarters and a few turnovers. That's gives our offense more shots at doing something. Rushing two and dropping they may as well just stay on the bench.

Cam Heyward: 'Either buy in, or don't get on the field'

The Pittsburgh Steelers' defense continues to be a sieve with more holes than a public street.

Mike Tomlin's team has allowed 400-plus total yards in three straight weeks.

The last time a Steelers team performed that lousy for a three-game stretch was November, 1954 -- Tomlin wouldn't even be born for another 17 years.

Pittsburgh currently ranks 30th in yards allowed per game (420.5), 26th in points allowed (29.0) and 25th in yards per play given up (6.0).

"It's about believing in the defense," defensive captain Cameron Heyward said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'm not for big speeches. I look for guys to step up. The kitchen is hot right now, and everyone is looking to get out, so we have to get to work and settle it down. Either buy in, or don't get on the field.

"Our defense is built on everyone doing their 1/11th. That's the way it's always been, and we have to get back to that."

Through four games, the Steelers' D has been plagued by missed assignments, the lack of pass rush, miscommunication on the back end, and (most of all) horrific tackling.

Heyward noted that players need to work together to fix the issue.

"It's assignment football and being more accountable," Heyward said. "It's understanding rush and coverage work together. If the rush doesn't get there, we have to get our hands up. We have to get better push. And our secondary has to make some plays. If we're in man, we have to keep our leverage inside. In the run game, we have to be in our gaps and stay sound, not shooting blocks and trying to make plays. Our defense isn't about making plays. It's about doing your job. That's for everyone out there. I don't give a [darn] if I never get a sack again. But if everyone else does their job and we get off the field, then so be it."

The job doesn't get any easier for the maligned defense. Pittsburgh faces the high-flying Atlanta Falcons on Sunday before a divisional tilt versus the red-hot Cincinnati Bengals.

As a couple of posts have said - Who do have that can cover Julio Jones I will wait
Ok so lets assume Haden can cover Julio- How do we have that can cover Ridley or Sanu- I will wait

I think we actually have a chance because you can flip those questions on the Falcons DBs and they might be worse than ours

Most likely a shootout between two teams very desperate for a win Hoping good Ben shows up!!

SORRY Cam but I don't see the "11" you are talking about as that would indicate a team. I see a lot of individuals out there trying to get the big hit/play so they can camera hog their celebration. The me ME me of this team extends to all ends and can only be changed by departure.

Sorry Cam, but its only going to get worse, no creampuff schedule this year, u got the Pats and Saints coming up too, better save some excuses for later, u are doomed, no magic fairy dust rah rah chestbumping will help this time

With Bell and a full complement of WRs we can still hit the 40 pts we need to cover for this weak D, but we are a 20 pt offense without him, is what it is.

maybe a ray of sunshine for the D?

Secondary could get a boost in Week 5

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ secondary has been in a constant state of flux this season. At safety, Sean Davis has been the only consistent face, with Terrell Edmunds and the oft-injured Morgan Burnett sharing duties at Strong Safety. Joe Haden has missed one of the first four games and Mike Hilton’s elbow injury had him watching on Sunday night when the Baltimore Ravens picked apart the Pittsburgh defense.

According to Mike Tomlin at his weekly press conference, he’s hopeful to get both Burnett and Hilton back onto the practice field. Clearly, their practice participation will dictate their overall availability for the contest on Sunday.
