A tale of two conferences. One is led by competent people whose goal is to do what is best for the teams in their conference. The other is led by a bunch of Peter Principle middle management hacks who are more concerned with the perception of them doing a good job, than actually doing a good job.

To wit, a bunch of games not being played this week
Alabama at LSU - postponed
Texas A&M at Tennessee - postponed
Ohio State at Maryland - CANCELLED

You see, a competently run conference went by actual science and started their season early, then they scheduled in multiple bye weeks in anticipation that some games may have to be postponed. A conference full of bureaucratic sycophants started their conference late with almost no room for postponements so now they must outright cancel games.

Ohio State is now down to 7 games and a probable 8th in the Big 10 champ game, if that's even played. With Notre Dame beating Clemson, there's a good chance that if Clemson beats them in the ACC Champ rematch that both will get in the playoffs. Could a 7-0 Ohio State team get left out. I sure hope so. The BIg Ten deserves it.

Penn State at Nebraska 12:00 on FS1
battle of winless teams. Penn STate has somehow managed to un-coach their OL. How does one of the better units in the country, an experienced unit with some NFL prospects, all of a sudden become unable to block a bad Maryland run defense? Maybe they spent all week just running the ball in practice and will be able to get back on track. Or maybe they did whatever tiddly winks bullshit they've been doing and will get embarrassed again by a Nebraska team that will play hard.

10 Indiana at Michigan State 12:00 ABC
Indiana coming off an impressive win vs Michigan. They are playing hard and starting to believe. They have a ton of veteran players. Just like Minnesota last year, when you have an experienced team, sometimes it can all come together.

2 Notre Dame at Boston College 3:30 ABC
this could be the classic letdown game. BC does tend to play ND close and after the emotional win vs Clemson last week it would be easy to come out flat. Notre Dame needs to stay focused.

13 Wisconsin at Michigan 7:30 ABC
Wisconsin has only played 1 game. Their last 2 games have been cancelled and they haven't played in 22 days. They haven't had normal practices either. Michigan is in desperation mode. They really should kick the **** out of Wisconsin here. If they don't then they have some big issues.

Tape, what does Clifford have on Franklin? I have no idea how he keeps his starting job.

The Penn State team has just quit for the season. I expect the better players to begin looking at the transfer protocol. Jahan could play anywhere.

I told my son that this afternoon. They quit. Season is done.

James Franklin needs fired.

Told my wife (PSU grad) I expect Arrington, Franco and others to start making some noise about Franklin and how he needs to go. We shall see.

Penn State has played well in each second half and been awful in each first half. I wonder if they are under some kind of practice restrictions where they aren't hitting in practice. That is the issue. Every week they look overwhelmed to start. The OL can't block anybody and the defense gets pushed around with lots of bad angles and missed tackles. The only explanation is that they aren't hitting in practice so each week it takes them time to get adjusted. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Sean Clifford.....I don't know. He's clearly shellshocked. He's making mistakes but not getting much help either. The run game is stagnant. The pass protection is awful. The WRs are not getting open. There is almost ZERO run after catch because they are tackled immediately with a DB right on their hip. I think the reason they keep giving Clifford chances is because they know much of this is not his fault. For example, the INT he threw, i think that was on the WR running a wrong route. The throw was too far off to just be a bad throw. I think Clifford was expecting the WR to keep going upfield or maybe do a hook but he broke to the out route.

That's why i think Clifford keeps getting shots. Because they watch the film and they see that on many of the bad plays, it's not his fault. Also, he is their best passer. Levis is like a RB with a decent arm. They do have a freshman QB they like but how do you throw a freshman QB in the mix of a struggling offense?

Freshman WR Parker Washington looks like he will be a good player but right now he's making mistakes. He should have had 2 TDs today on fade routes. Both times the corner of the endzone was wide open a Levis threw a good ball, but Washington didn't make a clean cut, he spun around looking over the wrong shoulder and the ball looked overthrown. It wasn't. They were both great throws if he runs a good route.

Has Franklin lost the team? I don't think so. If he lost the team, they would have rolled over in the second half, but each week, they are playing their best in the second half. It's just a bunch of problems all adding up. Limited practice. New scheme. Loss of their key player on offense (Journey Brown) and Defense (Micah Parsons). Too many young players making mistakes.

Hey Penn State!!

How does the committee rank anyone . Teams off and have played two games, others have played six games. Other have just started playing why should there even be a championship this year, hell some teams have already been given a bowl game , for what reason no one can figure out.
