I know what you're thinking. With Penn State on a bye, what's the point of a college football thread when virtually all of America will be raking leaves and just waiting for the Nittany Lions return to the gridiron? Let it not be said that I am uncaring of the very small minority of folks who follow the smaller schools like Wake Forest, Eastern Michigan, or Alabama.

In all seriousness, this really is a **** week in College. There are only 2 matchups of ranked teams and only 1 of them that anybody cares about.

8 Georgia vs 6 Florida 3:30 CBS - neutral site at Jacksonville
They used to call this the world's largest outdoor cocktail party but a bunch of ******* complained so now it's called something else.

This game will pretty much determine who plays in the SEC champ game from the East. The loser will have 2 losses and likely be out of playoff contention unless they can beat Bama or LSU in the SEC Champ game.

15 SMU and 24 Memphis 7:30 ABC
I told you there was only 1 ranked game anybody cares about.

9 Utah at Washington 4:00 FOX
Was is unranked but tough at home

7 Oregon at USC 8:00 FOX
USC has 3 losses and is unranked.

This is probably Oregon's and Utah's last hurdle before a showdown for the Pac 12 Champ. Even if they lose, they will still likely play in the PAC Champ but it would be loss #2 and likely end their Playoff hopes.

If you are a Big Ten or SEC fan, you should be rooting for USC and Washington. If you want a 2nd team from your conference in the playoff, it means 2 conferences have to be shut out.

The Big 12 may be done. Baylor is unbeaten still and is their only hope for a playoff, I believe. Oklahoma has zero big wins with Texas now unranked, and only Baylor of note left to play. In order for Oklahoma to win the Big 12, they would have to beat undefeated Baylor, who will likely be top 1o at that point. The problem is, they'd then have to beat Baylor again in the Big12 Champ and that would pretty much negate beating Baylor as a big win.

Big 12 needs to root for Baylor.

Shout out to Baylor HC Matt Ruhle. Native of State College PA and former PSU player, he won at Temple and then took over a Baylor program in shambles. He had to totally rebuild them and he has. Damn impressive for a guy with no recruiting ties in Texas to be winning there.

If Baylor beats Oklahoma, Ruhle will be getting some big job offers. Dallas Cowboys?

With the Big 12 now likely eliminated. That leaves the Pac 12 as a second conference needing to be left out. If Oregon and Utah meet as top 10 teams in the Pac Champ then it's a done deal that the winner is in the playoff. They each have 1 loss. If one of them loses and game, and then beat the other in the Pac Champ, then I think a 2 loss Pac 12 champ gets left out in favor of a second SEC team or possibly the Ohio State/ Penn State loser.

Thinking Miami +3 at FSU,any thoughts?

Miami isn't very good. Their coach is a smooth talking spin master, and thinks they are better than they really are. FSU is a mess, but they are at home, so if I had to play this one I'd take the home team.

They beat Pitt who is decent
FSU flat out sucks
Plus history this had always been a 3 point game so least I’ll get is a push

Miami has problems at kicker. They are just 7 for 14 for the year. I have a bit of an in with this program. They are a mess.

I've seen many Florida St. games this year. They are horribly coached. They could be the dumbest team in the history of college football. They have no awareness or understanding of the game of football. The coach is a moron and you can see it rubs off on the team. I'm just shocked they can win any games at all.

Watched some of the VT and Notre Dame game. I can't believe the pathetic pass rush by VT at the end of the game that allowed the Irish to score with seconds left. Prevent defenses prevent a team from winning, again. Oregon looks lethal.

One thing you saw was a lot of basketball scores and some really bad officiating. When does the game of football get back to a score actually means something. great for the fantasy world though

That HC goose is cooked. Terrible teams. They're going to run off all of the recruits.

Gameday will be in Tuscaloosa next week.

Cue SEC hating tape rant in 3..2..1... ;-).

Don't hate us, bro. It's LSU's fault. In fairness, they are the top 2 teams in the country. Also Gameday hasn't been to Tuscaloosa since 2016.

The funny thing is there are people upset they're heading to Tuscaloosa instead of Minnesota next week. I could understand if Alabama-LSU was the #1 vs. #10 matchup just to check out a new location, but a #1 vs. #2 should be an absolutely lock from GameDay every time.

on the other hand, they are essentially previewing a game on CBS. From that standpoint, it's pretty stupid to do gameday from there.

since when has ESPN ever made a decision on whether or not to do Gameday in a particular location, based on which network has the game?

That's what makes College GameDay the best sports program out there. They simply don't care about that.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and as good as Ian Book was last year, (probably over performed last year) he has been ******* awful this year. I had more expectations for the Irish based on his play last year. Disappointed.
Watched the Oregon-USC game as well, Herbert has a big time arm. If he is more consistent, the sky is the limit. JuJuan James, the PSU grad transfer looks like he could be the real deal as well.
