By Beth Ruzanic SteelerNation.com Speaking today from the NFL Combine, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert commented extensively on QB Ben Roethlisberger. Answering several questions from the press, Colbert mused that number 7 may come back from this surgery an even better football player than he was before. There will be some rust to shake off before game one, hope they allow him to do that, but good to see that the surgery went well.

Yeah when I read the hold him back some comment, I was thinking so he won't be ready come the regular season as in sync with his wideouts. So basically the preseason norm. Remember with an operation it might go well, but that doesn't play into knowing how well he will function. Until he has some reps under his belt.

Colbert was on MTC around 5:00PM today and remarked about not knowing how long this injury had developed. It just sounded like they feel it was coming on for at least some time prior to Ben actually coming out of the Seattle game. He seemed very optimistic that they’d get a strong version of Ben, perhaps improved. He talked about the year of rest for the rest of Ben’s body.

I learned with my son's UCL, small tears happen from use. It is why a lot of young baseball players have no throw November and then gear back up slowly after a month or two off. It would not shock me if something similar was going on with the tendon's in Ben's arm...micro tears over time that eventually weakened the ligaments till they popped.

Imagine a healthy Ben paired with a defense that can stop a team

Not sure yet of this "D" when Roethlisberger is playing as TOMLIN himself said they call a different "D" scheme when BENs out there...........

Just say-IN.....................

Our coach is on record saying he coaches defense differently when Ben is playing ? SMH

Yep, was just about to post this exact same thing. I mean, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to try to dominate on defense no matter who your QB is.
