The Steelers answered one of their biggest offseason questions today when Vice President and General Manager Kevin Colbert signed a one-year contract extension.

Colbert's extension keeps him with the team through at least the 2021 NFL Draft.

"I am happy to announce we have extended Kevin Colbert's contract for an additional year," said Steelers President Art Rooney II. "Kevin continues to play a key role in our success and his dedication to our personnel efforts is unparalleled. We are pleased he will lead those efforts for at least one more year."

Nooooooooooo!

Just kidding! Congrats KC! I wonder if Tomlin, Ben and Colbert are tied together? When one leaves/retires(Ben), they all will step away. The one-year contracts are interesting.

Very well might be. Personally, I'm happy they got him for another year. He did a helluva job last year.

I am torn on the Colbert deal. he certainly isn't he worst. but always thought if he left, Cowher would be great in that position.

I doubt Cowher wants to put that much time in again..................

Colbert’s been phenomenal.

Dan Rooney’s influence notwithstanding — he was (effectively) GM that got us QB.

Really how many “busts” at first round did he have? A couple - Considering the 1980s only Rod Woodson & Louis Lipps .... not bad.

First Steelers GM to trade in draft 1st round, huge part of 2 titles.

The reality of his moving on sooner than later is inevitable. But torn isn’t word I’d use

respectively disagree. with Cowher as a part of the draft process. Colbert was great. With Tomlin as a part of it he has been good at best. . Timmons mendenhall hood Pouncey. 1st 4 drafts with Colbert/Tomlin last 4 drafts with Colbert/Cowher Troy, Ben, Heath and Holmes. to me no comparison.

I like Colbert more on the draft and less in free agency. But he did do some pretty good things last year. Fitz,Bush, Nelson,DJ and Barron. We will need another good off-season one that involves QB,RB,G and TE. And resign Bud of course. If they want to get back to the big bang they can't come up short in any of these areas. Last year to be fair they came up short at QB which cost them the playoffs.

I'm good with this move, but totally agree when Ben is done it is time for fresh eyes and a new message in this organization.

I thought 2019 was one of his better years, getting Bush and Fitzpatrick. He might be thinking about retirement and want the one year contracts.

Colbert seems like a nice average NFL stupid kind of guy. The current Rooney regime likes their team stupid.

Hey!

He’s a Bobby Mo alum...so it’s ok with me!

Not to mention a tip top Yinzer...

Colbert has done well, he sure helped a defense that was a no name up till last year. You cannot throw him under the bus for Bell or Brown, two selfish non directional individuals. We have witnessed last year play and action by both players to know we were better off without them.

Agreed. Colbert is our #1 asset in management across the board. Retaining him is key for us to get better assistants coaches in the future.

You are either trolling or slow to grasp things. Your Colbert assistant hiring theory was already shot down.
