Completely unprofessional if true. No parent has any business getting involved like that especially if they are a coach for a professional football team.
 
if these accounts are true, then i'm more than ready to move on from porter, i'm certain there's a plethora of quality asst. coaches out there who could do a bang-up job giving instruction to our LB's.

And, why exactly was Gildon fired?? I don't recall reading in the article about him directly causing problems. . .

Bud of mine coaches junior hockey and had Dan Bylsma's kids on his team when he was head coach of the Pens. He allowed that it was a little intimidating but Bylsma would just come to games once in a while and otherwise never said anything or bothered anyone.

Dunno. Due to WPIAL reclassification this year my school doesn't play North Catholic any more.

*edit* North Catholic finished 5-4 and 4-3 in section games, so one game over .500 in a section where it seems a number of teams are pretty awful.

My son played youth league football with Tomlin's kids and it was known they were completely off limits. I understood they just wanted to be like any other parent watching their sons play football. But then one game I was walking behind an older woman as Tomlin approached. As he walked passed, she gave a simple friendly "hi", I'm not sure she was even aware of who he was. He didn't acknowledge her at all. No smile, no nod, no "hi".

Yeah, Tomlin sounds like a real douche, WTF! He doesn't seem like he'd be like that, although, I've heard various people mention stuff like that about him on the radio, but just blew it off as hear say.
The comments didn't help that's for sure.
 
What are they doing sending their kids to a little school like North Catholic anyway? Everybody around here knows if you want to be a baller you go to the much larger Central Catholic.

For those not from the area, the author John Steigerwald was the long-time sports anchor on KDKA but retired a few years ago and is writing for the podunk Indiana Gazette, so he doesn't have to give a crap about pissing off the brass at any of the pro teams.

if these stories are true then it is no wonder why this team lacks leadership in key situations. Being anti-social is one thing, but Tomlin not stepping in when Poter is being disruptive and that bullshit with smoking cigars is inexcusable.

Maybe the problem is that we have some young money coaches.

He's 100% a douchebag also..For you out of towners. He hasn't been on kdka in 10+ years.
 
Yeah I heard Mark Madden talking about it.

Can't say it shocks me. I coached a little small ball. And the parents at times were ridiculous.
 
Not really all that surprising. Tomlin seems to be more like one of the guys than a coach. However you would think the rooneys would be aware of these incidents since one is on the board. I can't picture them being too fond of stuff like this. Either way Porter should be gone. As for tomlin i would like to hear him actually discuss some X's and O's because I really question his actual coaching ability. I do not think the talent we have is living up to results on the field and that starts with coaching.
 
tomlin probably just dropped the F bombs because he got out coached by a pee wee dad

I totally agree. Porter should be gone as I'm not sure how good he has been as a coach other than excuses. TOMLIN on the other hand should have shut down the high school game conduct by his assistant coach. He didn't and that shows by example why there is so little dicipline on the STEELERS team. The vets such as Troy P saying weak practices / locker room turmoil,.......... All point to undisciplined from the top. THESE player currently on the STEELERS team have way more talent than they are being coached to. That O'l saying. "It Starts at the TOP" is as true as it gets. Rooney's know it and if DAN were actually in charge I'd like to think there would be some ramifications or changes made. ART has a problem and needs to address it. Time will eventually tell as to how this all pl;ads out. I've lost a little notch of respect for Tomlin in this regard. Some of you say......If this article is true, well why is there even an article if at least a part of it isn't true??? Step up CMT and make us believers.

I've never been a Tomlin basher, but this makes me sick - tells the story about who he really is. I'd be happy now if he and Porter went packing.
 
If these accounts are true then does this not speak volumes about who Tomlin really is? I've followed this team longer than most on this board have been alive but I'm feeling more and more like making a departure from this team. They are not representative of the teams that made this franchise great. There is a group of them that have become for the most part undisciplined, egotistic and selfish and me guys. Gone are the Troys, Millers, Wards, Aaron Smiths, Keisels, true leaders. This group is led by a guy who cannot control his players and coaches. I think there's more to the Ben saga as well. He has a Birdseye view of what goes on day to day. Maybe he's had enough.

Time to dismiss both Porter and Tomlin... they are an embarrassment.

FWIW, my CWNC sources saying that the criticism of Porter is accurate/fair, but that Tomlin has never been an issue.

Final take on Tomlin/Porter. My sources say Tomlin=totally normal, Porter=acted like a JA, often. Trust my sources. "Contest" that if u wish
