How about we stop going full zone or prevent on 3rd downs?

If you play man coverage, it better be bump and run...not 19 yards off the LOS.

Nice article "G" thank you SIR.

How about why there are fewer sacks than the 80s / 90s well here is one BIG one. The NFL has taken the "D" out of the game to an extent that it affects anything that may bring down offensive stats. Yes, including stricter personal fouls / stricter pass interference / stricter anything against the "D". How the hell are you going to sack a QB if you touch him for a personal foul....... you get my drift. YES QBs are getting ball out faster but that also means defensive player is just about on him and if grazed after the ball is just gone,...... yep 15 yards.

Butler had to say what he said, how come no one asked if it's true that he calls 1st & 2nd downs and Tomlin calls 3rd ???? Why not ask about the lack of aggressiveness on 3rd down and lastly, is it true the "D" is being called differently now that BEN is back? I get that would be to many "sensitive" questions but believe me inquiring STERELERS fans want to know........ least ways this one does.

I sod not think we can gamble often with man to man coverage with our corners. They aren't a physical or fast group. However we can chip a TE or double on on a WR who is killing us. I have not see much of the from Butler or Tomlin. Bush has some coverage ability, he needs to play better. I'd also deploy Fitz on some man. The soft zone isn't working and to be up front we played a bunch of average to below average QB's this year.

was coming over to post this link from NFL.com...scrolll down to the part on Steelers blitzing

Note the delta on blitzing rates on 3rd and other downs.

Seeing Copes article, seemed like a good place to drop this rather than a new thread.

Now off to read Copes article...

Great Stats Hoot!

Most impressive to me was Ben Roethlisberger, the QB that holds on to the ball to long, is leading the league in time taken to throw the football, averaging 2.37sec! WOW!!!

I saw that one too and thought same. The Next Gen Stats stuff is interesting. I haven't paid too much attention to it till now.
