Clelin Ferrell or a top CB?

First of all, I'm a little confused on Ferrell. You read he would be a perfect OLB in a 3-4, but also read his fit is as DE in 4-3. Which is it? I don't want another science experiment where they have to transform a DE to OLB and it takes forever because the player has never played LB. He's right at 266. And he could easily add weight, not lose it. Is he a natural fit at 3-4 OLB or not?

If he is, do you favor taking him over one of the top CBs? One could argue it's a bigger need. Bud is gone after this season and we only have Chick if someone goes down.

Analysts like Ferrell to go to Carolina (16) or Balt. (22).

If Ferrell is there at 20, do we take him over Greedy, Ya-Sin, Baker or Murphy? If they are convinced Ferrell is the next great Steeler OLB, I take him. I just don't know if he is an OLB.

I would take Ferrell over the CB's, the CB's all seem to be rated relatively close and I think if we really wanted a CB, we could get a CB in round 2 that's pretty close to on par with any CB we'd take at #20. I think Ferrell is going to be a pretty good player.

He can lose weight too, drop down to 255 which is what Porter played at, I think Woodley played at 260-265

He can set the edge and rush the passer. Didn't drop into coverage a whole lot in college but neither did Woodley.

He does look like he could drop 10-20 if he wanted to. Of course, if he plays DE he will add 10-20.

Woodley was pushing 300lbs near the end.

Maybe the NFL has become situational enough where you can put a cover guy for some things and a pure pass rusher for others so long as you have a Watt who can do both. At least till the Rookie gets used to playing standing up.

I really like Rapp from Washington in the 2nd round. Slow 40 at the Washington pro day, but still recovering from a groin injury. His slow 40 time will make him available at 52. If he runs a 4.55 like he projected and like he plays, he does not last that long.

Make it akin to the Stallworth slow 40 time and take advantage. Guy can cover, tackle, hit, very instinctive, 5 sacks, 2 picks, 5 pass breakups last year, 9 picks in three years as a starter, very tough.

Ferrell ideally would be a LOLB (strong side), Watt at ROLB and the team would be wheeling on all cylinders.
