Donte Moncrief has a chance to work with an experienced veteran franchise quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger. It's his chance to prove he's more than just a deep threat.

Speed is an important attribute but being at the right place at the right time is FAR more important.

He looked to have speed and route capability in camp.

With CB being upgraded the WRs and CBs are iron sharpening iron and it will do nothing but make them better.

Saying this it is hard to gauge his stats on the year. I can see him starting out stronger than Washington and Johnson.

But those two could surpass him by seasons end. Especially DJ.

His route running gets him open. Though he also has good long speed at 4.40

I always question when people say if so and so played with this QB they would have huge numbers. If this guy was a stud he would have already flashed those skills. We need him to be able to get open if and when Juju gets double teamed. I still think the X factor for our passing game is going to be McDonald over the middle.

Moncrief wont be a monster. That would have been like saying DHB was going to be a monster. So from that perspective I agree with you. But when he played with Luck he looked to be the type of competent receiver they need to provide a complement to Juju. If you play with ****** QBs it does effect your numbers. If you get 6 targets in a game and 2 are bad passes, you got a problem.

I hope he explodes onto the scene like Dante's Peak
Honestly I look for him to put up 50 recs 700 yards and 4 plus TDs at a minimum---- those are all slightly above his JAX stats so I take into account a better QB, a better OFFENSE and the fact that the Steelers have many other potential weapons that they should be spreading the ball around more this year.
Donte is still young and talented. Ben will help him to display his skills

DHB was a hyperfast back that was slow getting out of breaks. Great long speed, slower short area quickness. Also his hand positioning was piss poor.

Moncrief is slower than DHB, but has great quicks in and out of breaks, and also has good hand positioning.

They're completely different receivers, though both could play all 3 spots along the LOS.

The point I was trying to make was this: Like DHB, Moncreif is a reclamation project that hasn't played with quality QB's so there is probably some upside there. Considering his bounce around, I'm not expecting the world here. However, they don't need a superstar. They need solid beat single coverage, hopefully maybe getting Juju some single looks of his own. I'm thinking like 750 yards and 4 TD's.

Something to remember. They don't have all this yards to make up with the receivers. 5000 yards of passing is not a recipe for success. They won their last SB with 3100 yards passing. The game has changed some, but 3800- 4200 yards is more than enough. Play good defense and run the ball successfully. Make third downs and score TD's not field goals.

On only 32 receptions ... yahoo... I will take that
