Think about the Eagles defense in the Super Bowl and compare that to the Steelers the last few years.
just wanted to throw up a bit

It’s absolutely because we aren’t weighted at QB.
This is the time to pay other positions. Of course receiver needs some work lol

But the eagles have nailed their defensive draft picks lately, which leads to lower rookie contracts.

They will either be right up there with us in a couple years or they let a ton of players walk.

Then look at the totals and what they are getting for their money. Now add in the HC money and it gets even worse.

I mean to follow up my last reply, even their coach is on his cheap rookie deal lol.
That expires after this season. We’ll see what kind of extension he gets.

Eagles get bang for buck on defense. Steelers.....we want them to but it appears we pay too much.

Part of that is we’re not paying a franchise QB that would inflate the offense numbers but man that is a lot of money on defense especially how this defense collapsed the last several seasons.

4 years in a row as the highest paid defense in the NFL.

Think about that………….

Salute the nation

It’s almost as if the Tomcept of allocating so much to try to build a lock down defense that can hold a team to 14 so an ultra conservative offense gunning for 17 a game can win is broken…almost 🤪

The iggles and rats have better coaching.

Tomlin is at his best when he has star players at key positions and they can just win their matchups without scheme. I'm not even knocking him for that because there are some coaches who would just get in the way. Unfortunately, the Steelers aren't developing enough star players and the scheme and philosophy of minimizing turnovers at all cost on offense while having zero margin for error on defense isn't good enough.

A lot of high draft picks on rookie contract on that defense.

The Steelers on the other hand will run the same **** over and over again on defense, but expect different results.

Tomlin's Defensive scheme/philosophy relies on the opponents offense to make mistakes. Other teams Defense's create their opponents offense to make mistakes.

Funny thing, or sad thing is the song remains the same

Remember that 2020 defense of his littered with high draft picks?

DL: Cam (1st) Alualu (1st) Tuitt (2nd) with Wormley (3rd) rotating in
LBs: Dupree (1st) Bush (1st) Vince (6th) Watt (1st)
Highsmith (3rd) rotating in
CBs: Haden(1st) Nelson (3rd) Sutton (3rd) Layne (3rd) with NB Hilton (a UDFA!)
S: Fitzpatrick (1st) Edmunds (1st)

That’s a whole lotta day 1st rounders-8!!!! and several other 2-3 range guys…outside of Bince and Hilton pretty much every starter and primary rotational piece was a high pick.

The team as unit did pretty well allowing 6th yards and 7th points, until the freakin Stains laid 48 on em in the playoffs…the song remains the same

Even with such a talent investment the system still couldn’t yield a playoff win. Maybe coaching and systems matter???
