NEW YORK (AP) -- The NFL has fined Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict $112,000 for multiple unnecessary roughness penalties in Cincinnati's loss to Pittsburgh last Sunday.

The third-quarter plays involved Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and running back James Conner. Burfict, who has been fined 11 times for more than $315,000 during his seven-year NFL career, was suspended for four games to begin this season for violating the league's policy on performance enhancers.

Burfict was fined for a helmet hit to Brown; he previously served a three-game suspension for a hit on Brown during the 2016 playoffs.

His other fine, announced Saturday, came for a high hit on Conner.

His punishment should be every time he makes an illegal hit, he should have a toenail removed.
 
This is why people see the NFL as a joke. Ben is suspended for literally nothing while this douche gets a slap on the wrist. Which is kind of strange since the NFL is suppose to be "protecting" the players.
 
His season should have ended (possibly, his career based on the past) with those hits. How many does he get before the league realizes that he is targeting players? Not to mention the shot he wanted to land on Ben on the QB sneak but luckily for Ben his head bounced off a player's thigh and Burfict's target moved or we could finding out how good Dobbs is this coming week.

Makes no sense at all that he wasn’t suspended. He just came off suspension for doing exactly those same things

Just fining him is beyond the pale. They're just begging for him to REALLY hurt someone. More NFL mismanagement.
 
Guy should be gone for the year. NFL brass=hypocrites with uneven scales of justice.
 
Want to hear what he does against the CHEIFS............ If he does anything that is fineable, that had better be a suspension. We have example of fineable offenses now.

Fines mean nothing. He's a repeat offender.
 
I understand the ruling. Making this the highest single game fine, but it does nothing to this guy. You've hit him with high fines, and he's going to still be a dipshit. It's only a matter of time. Hopefully he does something dumb in December and misses the finale.

If Rog gives him a lengthy suspension then the Bungles have no game and it essentially hands the division over to the Steelers. Rog has a hard decision...protect players from head injuries and the league from head injury lawsuits but that helps the Steelers win the division. I'm sure he's torn over this.
 
The guy is light over 100 grand because of his antics..
I’m fine with the response..and I think the Steelers and the fans should move on to focusing on the Browns.

Amazing how the NFL harps on player safety to cover their ***** then they knowing willingly let Birthdefect run all over the field intentionally trying to hurt players.
 
I thought that while watching the game last night, that the fine either took the starch out of him, or that he just wasn't up for this non rivalry game..

Only way the league will do anything serious is if he takes out Br*dy.
