Good luck to Shazier. A pity to see such a forced retirement in his prime.

article says he put house up for sale. any idea where he went?

would love to see him coach, but that is long hours. I could see where he would prefer to be with family near a nice warm beach.

good luck Ryan.

Sad that his football dream of playing is over. Loved watching him play. D would have been a top 5 D and 2017 was one of our best chances at a Lombardi. Godspeed Shazier!

Sad for him to lose his gift like that and us for not getting to witness it. Seems like a full person though and will not be defined by his career. I saw him at the 49ers game last year and it was pretty clear he wasn't going to play again. Glad the dream helped him in his recovery. Best wishes Ryan!!!!

I feel for him, he can say all the right things but his passion his love was taken away. That part is truly saddening. But he looks like he is moving on and exploring what life will bring him next. Touching story and I wish nothing but the best for him. Steelernation loves ya Ryan and we won't stop praying for you....

Although I'm sad that he won't play again, at the same time I'm glad because I didn't want him to get hurt worse the next time.

Good luck to you Ryan. I know that anyone with the courage and determination that you have is bound to be successful.

Special moment between Colbert and Shazier. You can tell the mutual between the entire Steelers franchise and Shazier. The guy loved football and loved being a Pittsburgh Steeler. He's overcome so much and to hear about him appreciating being able to play with his kids allows us all to know although his football career is over he has so much to look forward to. I look forward to the day when we are able to recognize everything he brought to the team at Heinz Field.

Pure STEELERS standard. He has accomplished so much in life allready so I train k he will be fine going forward. I'm glad that he recognized his way.

Thank You Ryan not just for the football field stuff but for the inspiration on life itself.

Salute the nation
