By CJ Lester SteelerNation.com The Pittsburgh Steelers would have made the playoffs under the new NFL CBA Proposal! According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFLPA and the NFL owners are discussing a new CBA that would extend the NFL regular season to 17 games and it would add one more playoff team to each conference. What is it? The Really Wild Card team?

I would hope they do away with 1 or 2 of those worthless preseason games. Our starters don't get any work anyway. Most teams look like *** the first few weeks because of it.

This is a 'just the tip' moment. A 17 game season will suck ***. Imbalance of home vs away game, unless they're planning on 16 neutral site games. Otherwise, the NFL is expecting the fans to cry foul at the imbalance, so they can get the 18 game season that they've always wanted...

please get rid of 1 pre season game its useless to vet teams or contenders because the coaches already have 80-85% of the line up penciled in. vets rarely play.

16 games is a LOT.

And let's face it. After that epic tank job at the end of the season, although I LOVE my Steelers... no way in HELL they deserved to be in the playoffs.

Cope I think you are onto something but what is more amazing is the information we are getting. ARE they actually in negotiations right now? How come there isn't more coverage of said CBA. I think this is all just preliminary and trying to get a feel from players and yes, the fans. TV coverage / scheduling / ect. is all being or has been looked at. I'm sure the NFL is "parlaying" their way into the CBA and some of the issues. REMEMBER what we as fans perceive as issues isn't necessarily an actual issue.

Why doesn't the NFL just get rid of preseason games and allow the coaches to schedule scrimmages. If the NFL were to live stream training camps and scrimmages and charge a fee to watch them, they would make WAY more money than a couple of stupid preseason games. Who on here wouldn't pay $20 a month to watch training camp and view live reports on small breaking stories as they happen. ...over to Tunch…"Hey galoots WATT just planted Mason Rudolf into the turf and I distinctly heard Rudolf call him a cracker!"

Talks aren't official yet. They will be soon, but ideas and proposals from both sides are being tossed around now. Not everything will stick, but these are some of the first changes we've heard about. One big change that needs to get done: decriminalize marijuana in the NFL.

The NFLPA should be all over this for pain management over pills. Plus they're losing stars, and those stars are losing big paydays over this.

That will be how they get the players to agree to 17 game seasons.

Meh if they were really creative , they would increase roster sizes to 80 or 85 and ask for 20 games, but every player except punters and kickers is only eligible to dress for fifteen... that would be some **** and make it much more strategic... set the schedule as it is right now with three totally random teams from your conference and one rando from the opposite conference

When you add more games and more playoff teams, you water down the regular season. Having one bye week will keep the top teams motivated to play every week, though.

I like the current setup, yet I understand they're looking for a new revenue source and an extra playoff team adds in a new playoff window. The extra regular season game will open up international locations and/or allow the NFL to sell a season ticket package in England if they decide to play 16 games there.

Love getting rid of a preseason game. Wish it would be two.

I heard on MCAfee that the nFL made 32 billion last year...they don't need anymore money ffs.
