Jets are trying to trade disgruntled running back Le’Veon Bell: sources

The Jets and Le’Veon Bell are headed for a divorce.

The Daily News has learned that Gang Green is trying to trade the perennial Pro Bowl running back amid this nightmarish season. Sources told the News that Gang Green is indeed shopping Bell with the hope of trading him sooner rather than later. The trade deadline is at the end of the month.

“I know he’s frustrated that we haven’t won,” Adam Gase said Monday. “It wasn’t necessarily the plan of not targeting him in the past game, it just kind of ended up being that way with how they were they were playing us. So that’s what it is, I mean, just try to find ways to move the football that’s all we’re trying to do, and it doesn’t always go exactly as planned.”

Bell took to social media to “like” tweets about his poor deployment in Gang Green’s 30-10 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.

“I hate that’s the route that we go with all this,” Gase said. “Instead of just talking to me about it but seems the way that guys want to do it nowadays.”

Bell averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry after signing a four-year, $52.5 million deal last season. He has a guaranteed $8.5 million base salary for 2020.

The News reported Tuesday that Bell told friends after last season that he would likely request a trade if things continued to go south this year. He also expressed uneasiness about Gase’s weekly game plans last year without complaining.

Now, it looks like things have been pushed to the brink. The Jets tried to move Bell at last year’s trade deadline without luck after Bell was unwilling to restructure his contract (i.e. — take a paycut).

The team is now motivated to move on again.

Honestly- if the Jets would eat his salary hit. Yes. At this point he would be a role player and he would have to be ok with that.

Dolphins or Chargers should go after him...

I don't know know anything about Adam Gase, so I'm not sure who is the problem, but my guess would be Me'veon.

I'd say more like a "combination platter"

OMG - can't stop laughing. When my kids were young - i guess around 6 or 7, we always went to this one Chinese food spot. The kids found PuPu platter on the menu and just could not stop laughing about it. Of course, my son had the "potty" mouth thing for years...poople instead of people and so on. He was the master and my daughter would follow suit. There was no stopping the onslaught that night (I am sure it didn't help that dad was laughing but Ms. Hoot was kinda not hapy with any of us)...it was so bad even the waitress and the husband-wife owner team and a couple customers were over there laughing with my kids over it. My wife was fit to be tied in embarrassment. Then the food came...you know what, it was purty darn good. Funny night.

what that has to do with this thread. :shrugs: no idea.

So about that big contract he wanted. Was it worth losing a year of your career Le'Veon?

So hard to quantify. I mean, I assume he used the year off to further his other money making endeavors for his future career in Rap and things of that nature. That sort of future preping can lead to big things. big things.

Manish Mehta is about as reliable as Coach’s predictions. He’s stirred up plenty of click bait in the past.

WTF the Jets just flat out released him. Didn't see that one coming

Template has changed. Break out the " .......... If he'd take a vet minimum deal' template.

How does this work contract wise. I think i saw where he was not owed anymore guaranteed money. Does this mean he won't get any more money from the Jets now and he is basically income less (rap career not withstanding).
