We called it Denali when I lived there in AK in the 80's

yawn

Thank goodness!!! I mean, this could really go down as one of the defining moments in Barry's history. (Sarcasm)

All part of the hope&change initiative.

Nobody cared about the Outsiders in the lower 48

You have a problem with a mountain in Alaska being named for a President from Ohio?
In other news, John Boehner R-OH is predictably outraged.

ALL other problems on the face of the planet have been solved and conquered.
Please leave FBP to his whims and fancies.

My dad served on the U.S.S. Mt. McKinley during WW II. I'm sure he would just love the hell out of this.

Denali, officially named Mount McKinley from 1917 to 2015, is the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,237 feet above sea level.

What is the point? If Obama wants more attention, he'd force the Washington Redskins to change their name. Then again this is the guy who said he was in all 57 states. That's right up there with Sarah Palin's dumbest.

The response is so predictable, not sure wether to laugh or cry...

Conservative Heads Explode After Obama Renames Nation’s Tallest Mountain
http://freakoutnation.com/2015/08/c...after-obama-renames-nations-tallest-mountain/

The outrage is deafening from Conservatives, but the reality is that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) is pushing the bill to change the name of the 20,237-foot peak from a tribute to the nation’s 25th president to the name given to it by indigenous Alaskans and the state government.

The Obama administration gave the bill the OK.

So, a Republican does something and Obama gets blamed. Is anyone shocked?

Same deal with Iran... When Bush took out the regime in Iraq, he did more to strengthen Iran's position in the region than 100 of the nuke deals could have ever done, but it's Obama that is compromising Israel's safety according to republicans.

Wow haven't seen you in awhile... wonder why?

Wait so only Bush took out Iraqi? I thought Hillary and other dems voted for it? So Obama changes the MT. name but we can't blame him but Bush gets congressional approval for Iraq and he alone is to blame? Damn you people are so hypocritical.

I haven't found any basis for the rumor that he wanted to change the name to Michelle's *** Cheek.

don't forget.... Bush, the dumbest person to ever walk out of primordial ooze, was also the key mastermind behind 9/11.

I don't get the outrage. Alaskans call it Denali. It's DENALI NATIONAL PARK, not McKinley National Park.

Thank you, finally a voice of reason.

TIME magazine said:
The mountain’s name was a fluke. As local historians tell it, in 1896 W.A. Dickey, an ornery gold prospector and one of the first U.S. explorers in the area, fell into an argument with two supporters of William Jennings Bryan and his free-silver movement. The prospector retaliated by naming the mountain after the champion of the gold standard, then Presidential Candidate William McKinley. The name stuck and gradually worked its way into maps and books. Now there is virtually no resistance in the state to the proposed name change [to Denali]. Few Alaskans feel that the long-dead President deserves the honor. Says Anchorage Daily News Publisher Kay Fanning: “McKinley never got near it.”

Should Trump be elected, he should rename it Trump Mountain. Or name it after its former governor and call it "Sarah's Peaks"

I don't see how that is relevant...the highest mountain in Yellowstone National Park is called Eagle Peak, not Yellowstone Peak.

The "outrage" isn't so much about removing the name but why. What is the underlying reason? Why is it necessary? Were the Alaskans offended?

Perhaps the fraud in chief has become aware that the American people, primarily the left wing morons, are onto him, that their "messiah" cant move mountains....so he decided to the next best thing...rename them.

It's not the renaming. No one gives a good goddamn. It's the timing of it.

THIS bullshit takes precedence? Why not speak out against the spineless execution of the deputy in Houston?
Our POTUS is a disfuckinggrace.
